If you are John Kavanagh, how do you train Conor to get him back on track?

Imo:
- fucking have him work on cardio: Conor fights with a sense of urgency since he knows he has 8 mins in him. He will never become a Diaz or Holloway but have him have at least 3 rounds in him
- hire a taekwondo or karate teacher in order Conor egts back that elusive bouncing style he had before. He depends on that to finds the knockout, and it would prevent him from geing legkicked too much. He ain't a checker and he will never be, his style isn't built for that, so the only way to not get legkicked to a pulp is to move a lot, and quit this western boxing approach
-keep working on grappling but from a technical standpoint, his grappling is plenty enough to defend Tds against anyone not named Khabib or maybe Chandler. If anything, he has a cardio problem in the clinch.

What do ya think?

Cardio is genetic. You can only work it to a certain ceiling and that's it.

Dude Dustin took him down..

Conor is too jacked for his own good. He never had outstanding cardio but it held up in his earlier fights when he was carrying less muscle. I don't think there's much he can do to bring his cardio up now besides shrinking back down.

Besides that apparently Conor is pretty much his own coach anyway these days, so Kavanagh probably doesn't hold much sway in how he trains.

Firstly, he'd have to undo his belt and pull down his pants. Usually the rest is between men and women so I don't want to get too graphic but go to pornhub and substitute the two of them, with Conor in the dominant position, in any scene and you'll get the idea.

After that it's just back rubs and massaging his ego and Conor and his fans should be set for the next great delusion.

Kavanagh is a spit bucket carrier, conor is the head man and the fighter

It's testimony to Conors natural ability that he has achieved what he has with these bums as his coaches

Bellator should be the limit for kavanagh and co, they are not ufc level coaches. Conor is just a one off talent

The only way Irish Edmund should be allowed anywhere near the ufc,is if he buys a ticket to watch along with fans

John Kavanagh isn't capable of improving Conor - how can you train a guy for years and not improve the easiest facet of all i.e cardio. He's a bum..

He needs to completely change up his training partners so he is no longer comfortable. It is pretty obvious that he has gotten too complacent and if he ever wants to reach his peak again (which he probably doesn't at this point which is understandable), he needs to he pushed in training so he feels hungrier and becomes more adaptable

conor works on cardio. more than most. his cardio also doesn't get effected by nerves.

tell him to fuck off with his boxing. be a kick boxer a muy thai fighter a boxer and an mma fighter. don't be a boxer or you will limp out of most fights making excuses. how does conor not know what it feels like to take a calf kick or how to defend them properly? this guys ego ruined what was the start of infinite potential.

also he needs to make the cut. enough of the bulking shit and trying to be the bigger stronger fighter. this hurt him at both fw where he couldn't make the cut clean enough because he would start to big and lw where it clearly slows him down and makes him get stuck in the mud a lot when pressure is put on him especially in rounds 2-5. i also think he needs something like the struggle of the cut hes just not mentally living in the same world he was when he came up. best future for conor is another run at 145 to the title and then a jump up to challange 155 title one last time. i dont think at this point he has what it takes to go anything more than 50/50 as a lw. going to end up another bj penn if he doesn't make the cut for his next fight.

Conor needs a new head coach and new team. Needs to remove himself from his comfort zone.

He should be honest and tell Conor this:

-Conor my man. When you came to me you was nothing. Then you became something. Then you became nothing again. You should not fight anymore.

Then Conor rages and his motivation become "they didnt belive in me"

If Kavanagh use this tactic say Hello to champ champ champ.

Yes but he got back up and it was more because he wasn't expecting that from Poirier, when Poirier tried the double again he got sprawled

Recommend he go to another camp...

Seriously.

Conor needs to be in a camp that can take advantage of his innate gifts and make him better in areas where he is deficient (like cardio for example).

Hell if he went and trained with Jackson for a year he'd be a completely different fighter.

Look at the difference in Overeem post USADA. He was gassing out in the first round against guys like Browne, made no effort at defense etc. Now he actually fights tactically and can fight for multiple rounds and looks better than ever. And this is a guy with a glass jaw.

I get that it would probably put Cavanagh out of business as a trainer but its the best thing for McGregor's career if he wants to continue fighting.

Rousey and Lesnar fell into the same trap, train with people that kissed their asses that couldn't actually teach them anything.

Paint him a picture,

Yes but he got back up and it was more because he wasn't expecting that from Poirier, when Poirier tried the double again he got sprawled

so he grappling was not good enough to defend against take downs

from interview he did prior to fight/s,he said that hes not really training conor he's only there to support conor on whatever he wants to do,conor choses what he wants to train. at this point conor cant learn anything from irish edmund thats why he's all over the place with training partners
