MMA is very dangerous compared to basketball.

I think the average UFC fighter makes $25 000 / $25 000 for a rookie contract.

NBA is $898 000 per season for 2000 / 2021 for a rookie contract.

that’s nuts !!!

you could get killed in the Octogon for the price of a base level Toyota Camry ?!

Well not the smartest people in the world wanna put their life on the line for peanuts, only to dream of making around 750k - 1.7m and even that isnt very much in the grand of schemes, when you're risking your long term health.
That's a lot more than most people in the world will ever make, even most of the so called smart ones. The smarter ones in the fight game will be able to leverage that and make more money. Either through sponsors, film, or business.

They should get the same as entry level porn stars.

Absolutely, NBA players should get paid much less.

I don’t think economics quite works like that. The NBA has huge TV deals, sponsorships, prime time channels and time slots. UFC is a gimmick on weekends. Sure it’s making some strides with Disney, but it has a long way to go to get to the level NBA is at. Then add in the fact the NBA has a players union. The UFC will never get there until they get a union. I mean think about a new up and comer trying to get into the league. You think Dana is gonna pay him 800k? Or tell him he doesn’t have a spot open and can only afford 12/12. Without a union, not gonna happen.

Landscaping is more dangerous than being a dentist.

The NBA makes over $8 billion/season in revenue and has like 400 players. UFC has 725 active fighters on the roster and had their biggest revenue year at $600 million. NBA has 72 games in a season, UFC fighters fight for 15 minutes or less 1-3 times/year.

They should get the same % that the NBA gets and other top sports around the world instead of their tiny piece of the cake of whatever it is 15% or so. But yeah it is a joke at what the fighters get paid four show.

First, the entry level UFC contract is 10k/10k not 25k/25k. A lot less then what you are quoting

Yes they should get paid more but sadly the UFC or any other MMA promotion in the world doesn’t generate the kind of money the NBA does.

The NBA generates 8 BILLION Dollars annually and has 450 players

Whereas as the UFC generates 900 million annually and has over 600 fighters

It is impossible for fighters to make as much as NBA players because MMA doesn’t generate no where near enough money to match major sports

Well your ufc numbers are wrong so I also don't trust you basketball numbers.

But pay is skill and demand based. NBA players need to train their whole lives to get there, any idiot can sign up to punch people in the face.

I mean we could pay them like boxing with a few hundred bucks.

Which entry level boxers are you talking about?

There are boxers (eg Amir Khan and Audley Harrison) who got bigger paydays than most UFC champs do early in their careers when they were prospects because they were famous from competing in the Olympics. No such thing has ever or will ever happen in the UFC.

The boxers making a couple hundred per fight are no names who are fighting in untelevised fights. It's no different in MMA.
