It might be possible...

In ancient Rome, tens of thousands gathered at the Colosseum to watch enslaved men, condemned criminals, and wild animals fight to the death.

Today... the UFC offers the same thing.

According to recent news, the Italian government has pledged €10 million (around $12 million USD) toward the installation of a new, retractable floor that will restore the amphitheater to its gladiator-era glory.

“We want to give an idea of how it was, and we are seeking proposals from around the world,” Alfonsina Russo, director of the Colosseum, tells the Times’ Tom Kington.

Russo tells the Times that after the renovation, the Colosseum plans to host concerts and theater productions on the new floor. “The arena will be used for high culture, meaning concerts or theater,” Russo adds, “but no gladiator shows.”

Now you might be thinking... is the UFC high culture?

Let's look at the definition.

The term high culture is used to describe a subculture shared by the elite in a society. ... The elements of popular culture have mass accessibility and appeal. For example, high culture includes expensive restaurants that serve caviar and play classical music.

Of course, the UFC is high culture.

Would you go to the Colosseum and watch the UFC?

Would be very cool. I actually live in Italy at the moment. I dont see many references to combat sports here in Turin, so I dont know if Italians actually care that much about combat sports. But they have Vettori now, who may become their star.

It could and would happen if Dana really wanted it to. Money talks.

They have some rebuilding to do first, doubt it would pass the currently safety measures :p.

Oh and BTW, The Colloseum was build by White slaves. I am waiting for my compensation still!
