I used to hear ground and pound or sprawl and brawl. I am curios to know if people still call stand up fighters strikers?

The reason I ask is because in the dictionary, strikers are either people on strike or some soccer position. I have not seen anything that pertains to MMA or martial arts.

....really ogata...

Well fuck it hasn't made it to the dictionary. This sport is supposed to be main stream since 2005 no?

Lol...it would be cool to see ...

Striker

C) A martial artist who predominantly fights using there limbs to hit there opponent while standing

But Webster aint got time for all that...there too busy adding smackdown and Tinder to be doing martial art stuff in the dictionary

Exactly!

I know my thread seems trivial but to me it means something. I mean there are so many styles of boxing and they get mentioned in the wiki and I have seen terminology like "ghosting" make it to the dictionary despite the fact that the whole thing is relatively new.

It makes me wonder if passion for martial arts seems lower than before. I feel like todays human beings are more about tech and less about sports.

Well this is rude and uncalled for.

Yes, but you aren't going to see it in the dictionary, as it's a niche term.

Problem is not just dictionary but even on google if you hit "striker meaning" its about soccer. Is the term striking that niche? I legit ask because I am a fan of martial arts and I am blindsided to how much society knows about MMA and MMA terms.
