Got my gf watching MMA with me every weekend now and I'd like to show her what it was like back in the days of roids, nut shots, and knees/soccer kicks to the head of grounded opponents.

I remember some of the early UFCs being boring as fuck, long "fights" where it was one guy laying and praying until the "fight" ended.

Need some help, Sherbros, with finding an early UFC that had a lot of action, maybe some cool subs and vicious KOs. If it had now-illegal strikes, even better.

What event(s) do you recommend?

You really need a compilation as very few full cards had more than a couple of top level fights where the fighters were clearly roided out of their minds.

Show her Frank Shamrock Igor Zinoviev for the luls (UFC 16) :(

UFC 22:
Frank Shamrock schooling Tito Ortiz
Brad midget roid Kohler with a concrete overhand
UFC 21:
Pretty much all stoppages

UFC 13:
Vitor super juice Belfort destroying Tank Abbot in a quick kill

Better off going with Pride if you want to see the knees/kicks and actually have it with fighters with skill.

Mirko put on a good display of soccer kicks here even though that did not directly finish the fight

Coleman vs Goes at pride 13 is always a fun one to watch.

If you want to go back a ways Mark Kerr's first fight was brutal

UFC: Ultimate Ultimate 2 if you wanna go way back was a fun, stacked card at the time. More recently I would suggest UFC 31. BJ Penn debut, Serra/Carter spinning elbow KO, Liddell's coming out party win KO over Randleman, and of course Rizzo vs Couture 1 which is one of the best back and forth title fights in UFC history.

...likely??

Haha I always give the benefit of the doubt unless it’s admitted or they’re caught.

Some people are too quick to accuse without considering the thought that a professional athlete with exceptional genetics might just be jacked.

Yes - Ultimate Ultimate 2 was probably the "best" of the early era. Quality short fights, brutal KOs, and all of the guys seemed to genuinely dislike each other. Frye and Tank were peak UFC.

UFC3 is probably the best freak show card - Emmanuel Yarborough pushing dudes through the cage and of course the Kimo-Royce fight. And Harold Howard in all his glory.

UFC4 was peak nutshottery.

Having said that - UFC1 is really a must-watch for everyone. It's really difficult to describe or process that while some elements remain unchanged (the Octagon itself visually and most notably), no one had ANY idea WTF was going on or what they were expecting to happen.

UFC1 definitely had the strongest "is someone actually going to die" energy running throughout the card.

Haha I hear ya, I do. I too don't wanna accuse active fighters of roiding without a failed test/admission also but I'd bet my last coin on him roiding.

Same with this joocy sloot

Best juicer in UFC history was definitely Vitor.

It's tough to even pick a favorite - the latter era mulleted TRT'd Vitor who was a shredded 185, or the early PHENOM era Vitor who was a bloated 235 and looked like a NFL linebacker.

UFC 52 and Pride 8: return of the warriors
Pride 8 has Gilbert Yvel headkicking GG, Saku breaking a gracie arm, Wandy vs Mezger, Shamrock vs Fujita

UFC 52 was great. Matt Hughes coming back after the nut shot that was not called that almost had him finished still gets me pumped up. One of the craziest rounds I remember.

Let me give you some free advice. Your girl isn't into MMA. Your girl is into you, and you are into MMA. She doesn't want to watch that shit at all. No girl does. Trust me I've tried with dozens, even girls who trained themselves. You're only making it worse.

I found a winner. Sorry if your luck hasn't been as good as mine.

It's really easy to do, start an MMA betting account and tell her you are going to take her on a vacation with the winnings. Watch how suddenly into MMA she gets.

I'm up almost 80 units ($5/unit) since I started back in August. I should be up even more than that but I put $40 on Natty Goat to beat Cringeysanya and lost a few bets another week and then stupidly chased them and lost even more. Without the Natty Goat loss and my stupid chasing, I'd be up about $600 now.

It went from "Oh, its fighting again tonight? Guess I'll go watch Grays Anatomy." to "What time do the fights start and who are WE betting on?" She's right into this shit now, and as promised, I will take her on vacation somewhere in the Caribbean once I get up $2500 or so. I plan on increasing my unit size to $10 once I hit $1000 profit, which should hopefully be late winter/ early spring. I know, I know, I'm not a high roller, but I bet what I can afford to lose and so fsr I'm up money, so I'm good with it. Maybe someday I'll be a millionaire and place Mayweather bets, but for now bankroll management rules supreme.

She actually watches the fights too, not sitting on Facebook or Instagram, and even predicted the Agapova loss. She told me to throw $5 on her opponent and I refused (Agapova -1600 favorite vs +800 Dobson) and lost out on $40 return, lol. It was the biggest loss, odds wise, in UFC history.

Somewhere, someone else was quite a bit sadder than we were. Imagine putting $25,000 on Agapova to win that "easy money" only to watch her lose.

Now, if she has a good feeling about a fight l'll toss few bucks on it to make it even more fun for her, usually the free bets I earn through the betting site I use.

It's all in how you frame it.

TLDR: Change your strategy and you can get your girl to like MMA almost as much as you do.
