Gus was in terrible shape for the smith fight

It's hard to imagine what losing two title shots by a thin margin can do to your motivation. In a way I feel bad for Gus, he hasn't won a fight since Glover in what 2016? and hardly fights at all anymore. I thought hw wasn't the right decision, or at least if he went there come in in monster shape.

i know i wish we had motivated gus again he beats most of the top 10 now

Jones too in the first fight when jones was even more juiced than just pulsing.
Jones trained about about as much as Tyson trained before the Douglas fight... if you’re not familiar to boxing that would be damn near nothing. Also blowing lines... JonesBless

I remember jones saying that, little training and partying non stop, but he said that in the lead up to the second fight.. probably to try make people think ‘oh that’s a good excuse for jones getting his ass kicked!’

tho to be fair i think he won every round against Smith till the finish

Yet according to Jones he "crushed" his numbers from the last camp and that his camp leading up to the Gustafsson bout had gone "great".

"Jones not training" is nothing more than revisionist history by Jones and his coaches to excuse the beating he took at the hands of Gustafsson.

You always got the best posts bro.

It was probably one of his most impressive performances of his career, Jones was constantly having issues with Gus's boxing, but despite that he managed to endure the shots well, steal the fourth, and then take over the fifth with his superior durability and stamina. Do you really think Jones could go 5 competative rounds if he was out of shape?

Why you so worried about what he looks like? You one of them guys that critiques other guys looks? Seems kinda, jeeze I don’t know the word? Anyways, maybe looks don’t always matter in a fight, see Sage Nortcunt and Paige Van Can.
