From instagram:

"Khabib about negotiations with Dana White and rematch against McGregor

Me: Have you thought about what Dana White should offer you so that you think about resuming your career?

Khabib: First, he will probably offer money.

Me: Even without a fight?

Khabib: It will be hard for him to surprise me with any opponent. Who do you think he will offer me?

Me: I think that he will offer to fight against winner McGregor-Poirier.

Khabib: What for? I choked both. Why i should do this?"

Imagine if Matt Hughes told GSP ... "I made you tap to an arm bar ... why should I fight you again".

Imagine if DC told Stipe ... "I KO'd you ... why should I fight you again".

DC would be arguably the best HW of all time if he retired after that KO.

With that said ... Conor didn't give Aldo a rematch so F him.

Seems not giving a rematch is a wiser move.

Just take your win and move on. That's the lesson we are getting from these "GOATs"

hes right. some people say dustin had him in danger with the choke but those who grapple with kabib in training knew he was okay. making the fight again make zero sense. unless they just want to do a charity match but then don't make it for the title.

conor took a round off kabib and so far has done decent defensively against kabib compared to others but he got finished. if he had issues before the fight thats his problem. you can't make excuses for these things if you show up there to fight and lose. imo kabib could do a lot of good with the money he would make from this fight but i dont think it should be for a title if they do it again. let him fight conor in efc at 170 when conor is done doing his ufc deal. .

imo the only fight that really makes sense for kabib is gsp. unless kabib says hey im back for 5 more fights i dont want to see him fight tony , chandler, do bronx, dustin or conor. its the gsp fight or no fight. the time to make it is now. not next year or 2022. if the ufc can't make that fight itll be a shame.

Imagine if DC told Stipe "I KO'd you ... why should I fight you again".

TBF I don't recall Aldo doing much petitioning for it and with Conor moving up/Aldo moving down it was unlikely they'd cross paths.

If Conor stayed at FW I'm sure Aldo would have scored the rematch. Aside from that, I agree with everything else you said.

Khabib is kind of acting like a diva, especially talking about them being like donkeys. He's not getting the GSP fight so he might as well stay retired

None of those mentioned situations are comparable to Khabib and Conor.

Khabib was better than Conor pre-fight. He was better during the fight. He was better after the fight, and actually had an *upward* trajectory in performance in his next two fights.

This isn't Hughes/GSP, where one guy is starting to plateau or even fade and the other is rapidly rising.

It certainly isn't Serra/GSP that was based off a GOAT-level upset.

It's not even DC/Stipe where there was meaningful ambiguity about results and forecasting in the event of a rematch.

It's just one guy clearly better than the other guy in all ways, all the time.

I get why people are upset by this mentality, but he has a point. We all know exactly how a rematch with Conor or Dustin would go. It would be incredibly likely that Khabib would win, there really isn't much sports interest there as he said. It's not really the same as some other previous rematches in history that people are bringing up in this thread, as there was legitimate sports interest in most of those. People who think Conor or Dustin have a decent chance over Khabib in a rematch are just fooling themselves.

You're missing the point entirely. Those were the biggest challenges in the division at the time, aside from Tony, and Khabib finished them. Khabib said he only continued his career to face the hardest guy in the division at the time. Tony got mauled by Justin and Khabib mauled Justin. He's finished all the top guys in the division.

Makes sense to some degree, but combat sports loves rematches, of course an immediate or close to immediate rematch doesnt raise that much interest in a rematch where the first fight wasnt that close, in this case, both could deserve a shot at him with the win.

Easy money, many people enjoy. Add to legacy. He takes very little damage so minimal CTE risk. But cutting weight tough and he is well off now so money less enticing. GSP would sell too.

He will probably fight Conor again (who i believe will finish Dustin) and he will dominate him again.

Blah blah blah just vanish aldready everyone knows you are afraid of a smack from motivated and sober Conor 2.0 because it would feel like a double barred shotgun and thats
the only reason why you are retired, besides nobody wants to see you leghump and cage exploit in the UFC ever again anyways.
