Granted his opponent wasn’t great but Su Madaerji made it look easy and he’s always hunting for the finish.

let’s hope he can patch up his ground game

Hilarious how the 125 division has so quickly gone from black sheep to one of the most talked about.
It’s still the black sheep but at least Figeuiredo makes the division more exciting especially if he ever fights Cody Garbrandt

I've always liked it. Can you imagine if Mighty Mouse wasn't traded and Cejudo didn't retire? Throw in Figgy and you can have a lot of fun watching fights. Dana doesn't like little people.

It's not that, conservative Americans (MMA's largest fanbase) are weirdly insecure about body image and don't care that much for the manlets, Dana is one of them of course but if it brought money he'd happily push the divisions.

Size matters in every corner of the world when it comes to fighting. Also, a lot of the new hype has to do with Figueiredo being an exciting fighter and a total killer. DJ is an outstanding fighter but his fights lacked something in terms of spark and emotion and nobody seemed to care about him outside of the octagon either.

Same happened with BW division. Ten years ago people were discussing here how boring the bws were, and people even said that they had no KO power because of size. Then Doom got injured and Barao and TJ came and people got really into the division.

Just wait till you watch the most likely future champ next month vs Pantoja

Pro wrestling had the same exact problem years ago, while the internatinal market pushed litle guys, it is somewhat endemic.
Also BW are average sized people, while FlW are actually small. There is a big difference.

Not really a good analysis. People are allowed to like what they like and it’s understandable that some people don’t care for the flyweights

Figgy/Moreno will be way more exciting than Figgy/Garbrandt, unless you're taking into account social media followers & neck tattoos.
Moreno is a skilled generalist but I don’t think many fans are really taking him seriously as a threat

Cejudo probably can’t make 125 anymore but DJ and Figeuredo would be a great fight

First off, we're talking about excitement & his fights are hella entertaining compared to the Mark Henry version of Garbrandt that we watched back in June.

Secondly, I dont care what "most fans think". I prefer to think for myself instead of looking for validation from the masses. Groupthink has never been my style.

Moreno has an iron chin, excellent grappling as he displayed vs Formiga, great cardio, vastly improved boxing fundamentals, & a huge heart. Oh yeah and he's only 26 & getting better every day. Counting him out would be silly, but groupthink generally is.

I’m not counting him out but I don’t think he beats Figueredo at his best. He obviously improved since losing to Sergio Pettis but his chin/cardio is what’s giving him a chance here
