Media Unknown ref (Sittichai Ineiad) pulls off a GOAT save during the fight.

Ya he definitely seems to have saved that guys head from smashing back against the canvas. Great save by the ref.

Great ref! In stark contrast to that other ref who choked out a concussed fighter after he got KOd

Looks kind of goofy but awesome move by the ref protecting the fighter like that.

Honestly, great reflexes by the ref, but he could've caused Neymars neck to break with how he caught him. It is better for a fighter to fall straight down and prevent the follow up from the opposing fighter. You want to prevent the fighter doing anymore damage to a downed opponent, not go in for a save and potentially put them in greater harm.

Exactly what I thought. He fell kind of weird with that arm on the back of his neck and nothing to support the head and back.

That referee is locked in. Great job, that could have been a concussive impact. I wonder if that was something that was a natural reaction at that time, or if it was something he's thought of, seen, or attempted before.

Yes, but did he make a heart shape with his hands before the fight???

This is Muy Thai, not MMA, so there is 0% chance of the "downed fighter" taking more damage. So what follow-up are you talking about???

Usually when someone gets KO'd standing and they fall over like that there is a possible 2nd concussion of their head slamming into the mat at full force of gravity. It doesn't look at all like he was going to break his neck, he basically just put his hand behind his head so it hit the mat instead of his head. Since this is a striking combat sport it makes sense why he tried to save the guy like this; in MMA you'd be more focused on stopping his opponent from following up with GnP.

Exactly, if he was directly behind the fighter and caught him, he would have been able to properly support him and eased him down in a much safer manner. Him going from the side position has huge risks to the fighter, you are basically catching a fighter falling backwards while pulling their arms forward, head relaxing snapping back similar to whiplash from a car crash, but worse.
