We have an important bout coming THIS weekend. Way more important than the wee Irishman.
Conor is exciting but you can't hope for him to decide on his schedule for your entertainment.
Everybody knows that the real BMF's are over 205lb on fight night.
There is a bizarre and very grey looking area in the current HW division.
Saturated with names, but who are very much aged and shying away from delivering the exciting finishes that were a few years ago. But there is still hope to bring some more up and comers, before the oldies retire, or get knocked out (literally) of their division.
Here's the UFC top 15 after Miocic:
1
Daniel Cormier
Just about to retire? Probably...
Will he and Miocic fight again? Probably...
So that's the champ and challenger POSSIBLY both about to close careers.
2
Francis Ngannou
Man. Is he gonna get a slug fest with Rozenstruik (number 5) or what?
We have to wait until March to see. Hopefully!
So there is 2 & 5.
3
Curtis Blaydes
3 & 4 about to match up. This is gonna be a deal breaker for Junior or what?
If Junior wins then he'll be closer, back to that title, somehow, somewhere soon, surely?
A quick thread search on Sherdog over the last four years will reveal multiple threads "time to retire". But this is HW. One touch and it changes. In the last year or so, he's finished Tuivasa and Lewis.
Blades is only gonna get better at 28 and presumably, he wants to break Junior's resurgance.
Bets please.
4
Junior Dos Santos

5
Derrick Lewis
Not sure how far he's gonna go now. That decision win over Ivanov wasn't much to write home about.
Did anybody see it? Tied for 5/6 with Rozenstruik for rankings and yet he's gonna be facing the mighty stump, Latifi within a couple of weeks. Don't be surprised if Latifi wrestlef***s Lewis in to decision loss.
5
Jairzinho Rozenstruik

7
Alexander Volkov
8
Alistair Overeem
9
Walt Harris
10
Shamil Abdurakhimov
11
Blagoy Ivanov
12
Aleksei Oleinik
13
Augusto Sakai
14
Sergei Pavlovich
15
Ciryl Gane
