As a longtime Cyborg fan I am so excited to finally see her ruining b*tches at the top level in the UFC as I always knew she could. Now finally she gets top billing in a marquee Vegas event and gets to defend her belt against a big name opponent. This is a great moment for Cyborg and her fans, after this no one can doubt her legitimacy.
Now Holly's recent record admittedly is not great, some people think she is past her best athletically, some people talk about U.S.A.D.A. or her limited skill set having converted over from boxing but really if you look at the fights she lost, battered Cupcake for 4.5 rounds with a beating that very few girls could have withstood then succumbed to her veteran wrestling based approach, there's no shame in that.
Holly lost the belt but Miesha was not the same woman going into the Nunes fight, looked atrocious then retired. Holly broke her, Nunes despatched her. Valentina Shevchenko is arguably the most technical female striker in the U.F.C. and Holly lost a close decision to her, G.D.R is also a very high-level kickboxer and a big, powerful girl and it took repeated late blows to edge a decision past Preacher's Daughter. Betch Correira, ok not a massive win but Holly finished her spectacularly, she showed she still has the killer instinct, accuracy, timing, power, composure.
She is a very dangerous opponent. Never been stopped by strikes in MMA. I'm not interested in anyone saying she is no longer a force at the top of the division (135 or 145). She absolutely is. That's why when Cyborg drops her and makes her curl up into a helpless ball of fear and submission it will be all the more shocking. Cyborg is an A+ level athlete with brutal power and is absolutely ruthless. Holly was a boxing champ well Cyborg has been looking for boxing opponents for a while. Preacher's Daughter's nifty footwork and long strikes will not keep Cris at bay for long, she doesn't just hit harder than anyone Holly has ever faced she consistenly closes the distance to land power shots from a varied output, punches, kicks, knees, flurries, Muay Thai clinch, slip and straight counter, no one has been able to evade her yet and it's not just high power, it's high volume.
In grappling terms Holly doesn't have a lot in her tool bag, Cris has the BJJ and wrestling to handle anything Holly can throw at her in that area and don't be surprised to see Cyborg mixing it up and looking for TDs and to impose her top game. With that being said this fight will be decided on the feet where Cyborg will put hands on Holly like no one ever has before and send her into the tail spin at the end of her career. Cris is 3 savage TKOs out of 3 in the UFC, 18-1-1 in her career and that's 16 (T)KOs. There's no one like her in WMMA at this point, this is a Jon Jones, Jose Aldo or Anderson Silva at their peak level fighter and with an authoritative win over Preacher's Daughter she will move even further ahead of the pack. Holly will not be the same woman after Cyborg gets dragged off her and it will be a privilege to see this mauling.
