LYMAN, SC (FOX Carolina) - Deputies with Spartanburg County said a man faces multiple attempted murder charges after opening fire outside a nightclub early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at Playoffz nightclub on Inman Road in Lyman.

Deputies said 32-year-old Jody Ray Thompson pulled out a gun after getting into an argument with another man and fired several rounds toward a crowd that had gathered out in front of the club.

"His rounds struck 3 victims, and almost struck a fourth victim, who in self-defense, pulled his own weapon and fired, striking Thompson in the leg," Lt. Kevin Bobo said.

Bobo said the man who shot Thompson has a valid concealed weapons permit, cooperated with investigators, and won’t be facing any charges.

"Thompson was still on the scene when deputies arrived, but the initial scene was chaotic," Bobo said. "It wasn’t until victims and witnesses were interviewed, and video from the scene was reviewed that Thompson was identified as the suspect.

I'm glad I live in a country that respects my right to defend myself from maniacs.

liberals would have stopped the attack by throwing their used tampons at the shooter

Tampons are a way for the patriarchy to tax and shame women for their bodies. True liberals free bleed.

Glad a good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun . . .

I'd carry if I walked into that ^ too.

This kind of thing happens almost daily in America but the national media doesn't run it because it doesn't fit the narrative.

And of course the usual gun controlls bit on this thread like moths to a flame. :)

If it only saves one life, isn't it worth it?

I'm glad I don't live in a country that requires you to be armed to feel safe :)

I feel safe when I'm not armed . . . of course there are places I choose not to visit armed or not.

If only this thread had a gun.

Also, will this count in the official republican stats as a mass shooting? Or was it not massy enough?

What country would that be? On my phone so I don't see your location. Would it be England? I remember watching video of some African Muslim lopping heads with a machete in the middle of the street in broad daylight. I bet the victim felt pretty safe too with all those gun restrictions and what not.

Canada friend.

Heck I've driven to work realizing half way to that I forgot to shut the garage door and not giving a fuck.

If you live in a country with 0 violent crime then that is pretty cool.

It is possible to have crime and yet not be paranoid...or feel threatened.

We just don't have your levels of shit crime.
