Does the ufc do 2nd chances, can you get dropped and then re-signed after a few wins elsewhere?
Do you have any examples?

Yeah, Andrei Arvlovski, Rumble Johnson, and Jamie Varner to name a few

Do the strikeforce crossovers count? Werdum is an obvious example.

There are literally dozens of examples.

The number may even be in the triple digits. There were at least 3 (Werdum, Belfort, Marquardt) in the latest event alone.

Edit: There are also at least 3 (Stephens, Burkman, Camozzi) on next week's card.

In many cases the UFC makes it clear that they want the fighter being cut to go get some more experience/wins, and they’ll bring them back. Pretty common.

Dozens of examples. Won't list anymore than Robbie Lawler because best example I can think of since current champ.

I think Paul Daley will return some day.

This has happened many, many times.

Robbie Lawler, Fabricio Werdum, Rumble, Andrei Arlovski, Josh Thomson, Chris Camozzi, Joe Riggs, Nate Marquardt, Dan Henderson, Jay Heiron, Patrick Cote, Gabriel Gonzaga, Josh Burkman, Joey Beltran, Tim Hague, Thales Leites, etc, etc, etc. Not all "cut," exactly, but all released for one reason or another, then signed later on in their careers.

The first one that came to my mind was John Howard for some reason...

UFC have said explicitly on multiple occasions that cuts aren't necessarily definitive. You can work your way back with a couple of decent wins outside the octagon which was the case for Doomsday.

Guys with sexual assault charges get signed these days so I don't see why getting cut would be a factor in getting another shot later.
