Is this guy trying to compete with Liz Cheney for worst case of TDS?

<Huh2>

I think that guy just clearly illuminated what is sure to be a huge turning point in the future of the Republican party, and the nation as a whole.

A large portion of your legislature--assuming you're American--has stated publicly they think the results of the 2020 election were falsified. There is not nor has there ever been any evidence of that which stood up in court at any point in the mean time. Therefore they are either knowingly pushing a lie for personal gain or they are delusional and should not be in any position to hold power over a cup of coffee let alone the People. In addition, in the course of pushing this lie, they support p. Trump, thrice found guilty of fraud, found to illegally hold documents pertaining to US national security--an act that would get you or me disappeared, found to use the office to enrich himself and his family and to abuse the power of his office for personal and political gain, and you apparently think that's a good thing. Is that right?

Republicans controlled the legislature in Pennsylvania in 2020 but that didn't stop the Dems from getting "friendly injunctions" to open voting up to drop boxes and uncontrolled mail in- basically, illegal ballot harvesting. Since they didn't have the guts to do what needed to be done to take power, they are now losing it.

At this point, a significant chunk of people are losing faith that the electoral system isn't full of fraud in certain states. That's fine in Texas or North Dakota because they trust their elections. Nationally, however, it means the Rs will have to escalate significantly to ensure they can get elected. If they don't, they get what they get. There was an Arab philosopher who once had a quip about strong horses and weak horses. The people will end up following the strong horse. Their opinions will change.
There's only so much the GOP can do given that the fraud claims are generally untrue and largely used for cynical power grabs. You can only grab so much power in a liberal democracy before you hit the limit set by institutions and norms and that limit is hard to break without an overwhelming democratic mandate which the GOP has not had for some time.

As sad as the actual event depicted in the gif is, and as someone married to a Japanese person it's kind of heart-wrenching, I love that gif and I'm definitely going to use it myself, should the right occasion arise.

On topic, great result. I still put the chance that Trump's big announcement tomorrow will be that he will not run in 2024 at somewhere between 25 and 50%, so I'm open to a friendly wager if anyone is interested.

I won't bet on that but I don't think there's any way that Trump doesn't announce a run for President in 2024. He found it so easy to make money by doing it the last two times. That gravy train has biscuit wheels and there's no way he won't go for another ride on it. :)

Yeah until their platform is clearly a total reform (which would be much different than today) with an actual intent to seize power, they don't deserve to win anyway. If they had a young, energetic candidate with enough charisma and a willingness to concentrate power to destroy/remake institutions they wouldn't need to be told what to do anyway. That day, IMO, is coming- probably within ten years.

Regardless of whether the fraud was illegal or just a return to 19th century ballot harvesting, I try to encourage the sentiment where I can. It gets people to think about how power works and what they can do outside of simply voting.

Well, again, I'm not super-confident of the claim--it's entirely possible there is no way he won't run unless he's dead being as how he loves upsetting people as much as he loves the adoration of the crowd. It wouldn't surprise me if he ran for spite even if he's convinced it will turn out horribly, obviously; I am just trying to have some fun with this, hence the friendly terms.

In fact, the more I think about it, the less confident I become, particularly taking into account the obvious attempt by Trump to use the presidency to evade criminal prosecution. He has great incentive to run again; that's for sure. But I feel like there's a reason he claimed he'd make a big announcement before the mid-terms to be revealed after the mid-terms. If it's not to determine if he should stay out of it should the Republicans fair poorly, or if DeSantis did very well, then it will be quite interesting to see what happens instead, though I blush to admit that.

Now, having made the case that I cannot win, the offer will remain open to anyone here until 8pm EST. today.

<Huh2>

Its called smart politics. Trump is an election loser.
Trump lost in 2018,2020,2021 and 2022, its smart to keep that losers name out there. If you are a Dem you want that loser Trump to be the nomination in 2024, because one thing he is good at when he is not running against Shillary is losing.

Unmarried women determined this election. They broke (D) at a 37% rate which is a monster number. All other groups Married Men, Women, and Unmarried Men all broke (R) by single digits. If we can figure out a way to get those ugly weirdo hags married off, the Woke bullshit would go away, the terrible border policy would go away, the energy policy would go away.

Was it Abortion? Maybe so. I kept arguing that the GOPs push on Roe v. Wade while trying to regain power was really bad timing. Seems to be true.

Raskin was not talking about Trump and the Republican nomination in the 2024 POTUS race, he literally is having a mentally shook fantasy that Republicans will name him Speaker of the House because you can hold that office without being an elected member of Congress. Full blown TDS.
<Ellaria01>

So I guess like Raskin, you are legit concerned about Trump becoming Speaker of the House? A lot of people joke around on here, but clearly TDS is a mental health problem among many in this country. Orange man literally drives some of you people crazy...he's winning:

Rent free only works as a joke when it's a largely irrelevant person someone cares about disproportionately.

I feel like you don't understand the point of the meme?

Losing the house, losing the senate, then losing the presidency, getting impeached twice, having the FBI raid your house, the NY AG sue you for hundreds of millions etc, then having your party underperform in the next midterm election was incredible, for sure. A lot of people are saying Trump is winning more than every person ever except maybe Alexander The Great.

Trump was leader of the free world. Google it.
He beat Hillary, probably the most hated politician of my lifetime.
He was gifted a match up, and since then everyone figured him out and all he does is takes L's.
2018 took an L
2020 took another L
2021 Took an L in the GA runoffs. A big L because he lost 2 Senate seats. He could not get them over even though there is a semi popular REpublican Governor there who Donny hates because he won't kiss Donny's losing ass.
2022 Red Dribble took an L Bigly. Took an L so bad people are begging him to disappear.
If he runs in 2024 he will take another L. The Face of the GOP ensures the GOP losing, but hey support that loser all you want. I try to associate myself with winners because winners win and losers lose.
Face it Donny is a serial loser. The problem is he wont leave because he has found a racket where people on Fixed incomes give him money. He has no big donors left, just average Americans sending a 3rd generation trust fund baby, money and I am here to watch it burn.
