I agree this is my only political forum as well
I try to discuss politics on Facebook but increasingly I see that as a mistake. When you know someone or know of them through a friend, it makes the discussion a lot less productive. Plus the format isn't really conducive to productive discussions like this place is where I can like articles and videos and whatnot far more easily and in a more organized fashion. I've come to realize that its better to make friends through political discussions than to talk politics with friends.

And went where? Guys who made a forum such an important part of their lives and identity certainly didn't just stop using the internet.
they be lurkin, and posting under there alternate accounts

100% this. Better to have someone get mad at your point of view here than someone you actually know. Usually people here get the basics of differing opinions and somewhat not bringing emotions into it. I'm stunned at how pointless some of the fb conversations I've seen can be. Just mostly is then saying they disagree back and forth and they don't know if they can't be friends anymore or stupid shit like that. Completely toxic and childish.

I've had some good exchanges on FB over local politics (more with friends of friends than with friends, though).

:) I think when I'm done with Sherdog, I'll be done with forums completely. I don't post in any others, though there are fake JVSes all over the Internet, some of which used to copy my HW posts.
Lol seriousy?

It's something I've wanted to do for a while. I drive hours up to northern Ontario and do target shooting on crown land. Don't have a hunting license yet. How progressive of you to think that spending time in the forest is abnormal and weak.

There are places in Canada untouched by progress. The small towns that I pass through to reach the spot that I go to are some of the most nicest places to live.
I bet i spend alot more time in nature than you and I stand by statement, you will never spend a winter in an off grid cabin in northern Ontario

And that's quite the sentence lol

First and foremost, I would like to officially congratulate President elect @HomerThompson for his well earned prize, after a hard fought campaign. I hope he presides over a time of peace and prosperity within the War Room.

Secondly I would like to thank my entire team,

@pcptornado for being the best running mate a guy could ask for.

@Anung Un Rama for being a true friend and offering his support and hard work during the campaign.

@Peloquin for adding some much needed energy during the primaries.

@Contra-dictator for trying to give us that final push right at the end (unsolicited and without promise of favour I might add).

And of course @Clippy for holding it all together.

Each and everyone of you who voted for me also has my gratitude, registered voters and dreamers alike (except @Pickle Rick, fuck you).

I would also like to give my gratitude to @Lead for facilitating this entire venture, and to @Limbo Pete , @Ruprecht @Madmick and @computer fogie for moderating this fine sub forum that we all enjoy so much.

Lastly I would like to thank all of my opponents in this wonderful election. This process brought out the best in everyone involved, and has been the most fun I can recall having had in the war room in recent history.

You never lost bro cause you ended up in Resort Clippy. Hold your head up high!!

Yeah, man. It's weird. Some of them might have been trolls trying to fuck with me, but some were serious posters who just copied my posts and then handled the ensuing discussions. Definitely a sign of respect, but an odd one. There are also two fake JVS twitter accounts that I've been told about.

My circle probably just sucks with it. Only good conversations I've had have been in person. If it's over that, people get very emotional and defensive. I can see local issues being far less like that. I tend to think at a local level it becomes more about the candidate than the ideological lines since local level issues don't usually reflect national ones.

And tbh with the way I discuss politics it can be alienating and lead to people liking me less. I don't blame them, which is why I try to keep my political talk here. Nowadays if I see a post I disagree with I type out my response, take a breath, delete it and hide the post so I get fewer of them in my feed.

There was only one person I could disagree with frequently who wouldn't get annoyed. I didn't even know them, my friend just suggested I add them and I did and I had some good discussions with them. They're like me in that they see the sport in political debate and don't take it personally.
Do you like pro wrestling?
Not really. As a kid I thought it was stupid but nowadays I think I get the appeal. Its like extreme theater where the actors do their own stunts. I respect it but I didn't grow up with it so I don't really personally care for it.

You're an older person though(no offense). I'm fairly young so my peers feel very strongly about a lot of things and usually post about controversial topics which can get heated quickly.

Am I supposed to care? You are making this out to be some sort of contest... when all I said was that I spend time in the forest and that I have thought about having a nice cabin in the woods. There definitely wouldn't be enough food, guns, firewood and other supplies, right?

A bitter progressive with a blackened heart saying that it could never happen is meaningless.

Lol at you saying a i have a black heart you come off as bitter hateful and mad at the world

Asian Male / Black Female relationships are like pussy to a leftist because they only see it on the internet.
My favorite part of the election was how you were the last person to vote and it didn’t matter at all.

(begrudging) congrats to homer -- if a dirty socialist has to win something, i can live with the fact that its limited to a political subforum on a mildly obscure mma site.

You think this is where the revolution ends?
