I posted a thread suggesting a different approach to moderation (ie, requiring posts in a thread to contain some relevant material and not just flaming). I further noted that sometimes a lack of manpower could result in a sense of arbitrary moderation. An admin noted that the warroom had been getting out of hand lately, the warroom-specific rules were a part of the problem, and there was talk of deleting it. I responded that a solution would be too bring it closer to the universal rules.
Lecter posted a (clever) "agreement" trolling the thread suggesting that the issue was insufficient balance in moderation, and suggested conservative mods. He then named some of the more unreasonable people who were since banned. The usual (now banned) shitflingers showed up, too, as they do.
I said that sounded reasonable, and suggested a group of (historically) well-spoken conservative posters that the shitflingers didn't get along with as possible candidates. (ie, pan, polish, PiL).
They started slinging shit, some people, including me, noted that this was a great example of the problem. The thread disappeared after another page. I got a follow-up that it had been read by the admins and there was no need to leave it up anymore. About ten days later the forum rules were updated.
