I'm not AS angry about Hyde as the dude was due for a payday and got one that we wouldn't have been able to match.Micah Hyde leads the league in interceptions. Julius Peppers has 7.5 sacks through 8 games.
I was cool letting them go since they didn't look special in GB. Perhaps Dom Capers is damaging the goods....
More pissed about Peppers as outside of Perry's streak at the end of the year he was the only consistent pass rush guy and we let him walk without an offer. Much like the way we let Heyward walk.

I just mentioned Hayward in the NFL thread. Hyde's contract isn't shit though. 5 years, 32 million (6.4 mil per year on average).

I thought it was majorly front loaded.
It sucks that guys like Collins and Shields who were fucking studs had to retire because of injuries. Imagine if those two hadn't had to retire cause of them... we could have used those Rollins and Randall picks on pass rushers like... Joey Bossa..... or Mack.... or a backup QB that doesn't chew gum like an inbred idiot.

I won't even pretend Hyde looked good in GB, and warranted a big deal. But look at what we spent our money on instead, as a result of players magically looking worse in GB;
Ahmad Brooks - 3.5 mil
Jean-Francois - 1.5 mil
House - 2.8 mil
Dial - 775k
Marty B - 3.8 mil (backloaded deal)
Kendricks 1.8 mil
4 of those are for defenders who have been complete ghosts this year, and it doesn't include Perry's extension. I'm starting to think our coaching staff is really THAT bad, and that Ted's drafting/signing can only go so far.

Saw a lot of shit that still leaves me unsure on him. On one hand we had guys open and he didn't see it, on the other hand we ran a lot of plays with 7 in pass protection with everyone blanketed in coverage.

Isn't Brooks hurt too? And House seems to keep taking series off dealing with bumps and bruises and shit and Marty is talking retirement.
At this stage feel like Kendricks should be out there above Marty since Marty can't catch a goddamn cold.
As to coaching staff feel like we need to dump Capers and the S&C staff. We seem to deal with more injuries to top players than anyone else.
I know the motto is "draft and develop" but it feels like we develop guys for other teams.

McCarthy had better start scheming these receivers open with Hundley. He can't possibly expect him to be throwing guys perfect passes in tight coverage like he is A-Rod.
Not to sound like an arm chair coach, but If McCarthy can't get Hundley to win some games and stay in the hunt; then he should probably go. The o-line will be even healthier coming out of the bye, and this team finally has a legit threat at RB in Aaron Jones. This isn't 2013 where they had no real contingency plan for if Rodgers were to go down. Only way McCarthy should be getting passes for losing games is if the defense shits the bed.

My biggest issue is wasn't Capers like a DB or LB coach at New England and got summarily shitcanned after just one year before coming to Green Bay?

If Capers is still the DC going into the 2018 season I will officially give up on this team winning another SB with Rodgers. I believe this team has the tools to be a championship level defense and is probably another boundary corner/elite pass rusher away from being a top 5 scoring defense.
If he's still here next year; Ted might as well go all offense in the draft and let Rodgers pad his stats and get some more MVP's before he calls it career.

I'm very curious how different our defense would be had Collins and Shields careers not been derailed by injuries. Have to imagine if they were still playing for the team we'd have been loading up on pass rushers. Obviously no shot at getting guys like Watt, Bosa, and them but you'd have to think the Rollins and Randall picks would have gone towards pass rushers.
EDIT:
I feel like offensively if the parts all come back and MM is willing to have Aaron Jones be the lead back and is willing to ride him a bit (not the way the Cangirls ride Zeke or rode Emmitt but use him consistently)... that side of the ball is pretty well set.
Defensive side... we need another perimeter CB. I have hope for King cause what I saw of him in college I thought he'd be a good pro CB. Not a Woodson or like a Deion or a Revis when he was young... but a damn good one, jury's still out on him though.
And it's painful obvious we need a Bossa, Peppers, or Watt type of edge rusher. We get barely any pressure on opposing Qbs unless their o-line is fucking trash like the Seahawks o-line this year.
