NYC is full of high income alumni from colleges all over the country. 8,00,000 people in the cityI used to live in NYC and would go with a buddy from Nebraska to a bar that was absolutely packed with Husker fans for every game. THat wasn't the only bar either. Just look at their website: http://www.nychuskers.com/football

Just about every college team has a bar (or two, or more) where alums get together for games.

But back to why they might have gameday in NYC. The crew probably wanted to get drunk/party in NYC. ESPN/ABC/Disney basically run Times Square (that's why I hate Times Square so much).

I could understand if two big time schools were playing at a neutral site like yankee stadium or citi field
But they are not even going there for a game.

The whole point of gamday going on the road was to have the college atmosphere.
