I'm 27, make a pretty good salary, have no more student loan debt/car debt/credit card debt, have a life, have played pokemon go as well as other video game, voted in 2012 and consciously chose to abstain in 2008, and voted in this years primaries. Of course, I never said or meant to imply US citizens were doing the raping, I said that Trumps statement that Mexico was sending over their rapists (although SOME he ASSUMES are nice people) was not inaccurate and his reference to the 80% stat was him trying to back peddle into a source. And its more than technically wrong, its on a different planet wrong. Of course I am glad you learned something from the whole debacle, but I don't think Trump's goal was to educate us about the plight of the poor immigrant Mexicans.

Without his over the top statement, a lot of people wouldn't have even heard about the whole ordeal. And it's not like he was different planet wrong, as someone had to do the raping along the way and we don't know who was doing the raping (it's not bad speculation to suggest the men who are also on the same plight).

I don't think Trump ever referenced the 80% stat, either. I first heard that from Gavin McInnes in support of Trump. I had always conceded the stupidity of Trump's statement till I saw that source (that didn't come from Trump).

He should have worded things in a way less outrageous manner, but at the same time, the other end of the spectrum are those who think everything's hunky-dory as they sip their coffees hundreds/thousands of miles away from the border and look down on anyone who disagrees with their open border worldviews.

He was accusing Mexico of sending their rapists to the USA, that is a million miles different than the statement that illegal immigrants are getting raped by other immigrants on the way here.

Not only is it different, the intent of the message is also totally different, one is to paint illegals as being dangerous because they are rapists (false they are not rapists more than any other group) while the other is to highlight the dangers that illegals face in coming over here. Its blatantly obvious which one Trump was going for.

Trump may not have quoted the 80% figure but that is the study/article he referenced when trying to defend his nonsensical statement. Present company excluded, I would hazard a guess that most people worried about illegals don't give a rats ass about their welfare, at the very least that is not what trump was shooting for.
