Boy I'd hate to be a Hillary fan right now (does she have any?) Trump has just had his best week in ages after going to Mexico and making everyone think past the sale, outlining his immigration policy, climbing in the polls, and hitting it out of the park in Detroit.

Meanwhile Hillary showed up looking tired and haggard, only to recede back into the shadows.

You realize the Mexican president himself called Trump out for lying, right? Said he told Trump Mexico wouldn't pay for a wall after Trump said it wasn't discussed.

How was it good for him when the outcome of it was the guy calling Trump a liar?

Trump said he's a master deal maker, and in his first attempt on the international stage he gets shut down and then lies about it to save face. That's not good. Perhaps better than some other weeks he has had, but still not good.

This is the same guy who lied about the NFL contacting him about the debate schedule recently, and being called out by the them as a liar. He seems to have limited ability to learn.

The more I think about it, the more I want to blame the public then the system. We had a primary for a damn reason and it was covered extensively by the media for a year and a half. People who are now complaining in the GE about their options probably make up a decent majority of people who didn't vote in their primary. They had 20 candidates originally to choose from and tuned out until now and they wonder why the options are so shitty. The system isn't that flawed. It's people's lack of participation when it's clearly give to them. I mean, there was a point in time where we didn't even get voting primaries

On the GOP side, having so many candidates might have contributed to the problem, though Cruz coming in second says a lot about the electorate. On the Democratic side, Clinton's perceived strength effectively cleared the field, and her most serious challenger was never really viable (I don't know exactly why O'Malley didn't do better, though). Remember that Clinton's approval ratings were extraordinarily high before she started the campaign. I don't think many people appreciated how deep the MSM's antipathy for Clinton was at the time, and I think that has clearly had an effect on her favorables. I also suspect that having one really unpopular candidate hurts the popularity of the opposing candidate (and vice versa).

It imo allowed him to look somewhat presidential, a lot of people will hear he met the the president of Mexico and nothing else, they won't hear that the wall was brought up ( as confirmed by Rudy G ) even though Trump claimed / lied that it wasn't . looking " presidential " is exactly what Trump needs and i believe he accomplished that even if it was to a small degree

Did you not see the press conference with both where Nieto stood silent when Trump said the wall was not discussed. Nieto's aid also said Trump was not lying.

Wishful thinking. Trump was in command on Pena Nieto's home turf, and during the meeting PN not only conceded that Trump would build a wall, but that it would benefit Mexico in some ways too. Nobody is under any impression that Mexico will send a physical check to Trump for the wall, and negotiations haven't even begun (and can't yet). PN said what he said because he's extremely unpopular in Mexico, and was taking Vicente Fox's lead (who was also a grade-A douchebag but people like now because he "stood up" to Trump before pussying out and apologizing).
