It seems so surreal to me that as November edges closer Donald Trump is in a very solid position to become President. Whether you support Trump or not, deep down inside you know that he is lacking some important qualities of which intelligence, intellectual curiosity, decision making, and leveled temperament are the most important. When I stop to think about what we are getting ready to do by electing Trump, I can only ask "why?"

The answer is clear. The average American is suffering. If you are middle class or below then you are working yourself to the bone to keep everything together. The progress and upward mobility that hard work seemed to get our parents and distant ancestors just doesn't seem to exist anymore. As Americans, we are more educated, harder working, and more law abiding than ever before yet we have nothing to show for it. And that pisses us off and leaves us searching for answers; we look for someone, anyone to blame.

Then Trump comes along and finds answers for us. Our lives are harder and suckier than ever because of people who aren't white. Mexicans cross the border illegally and take our jobs, rape our women, sell us drugs, and rob us. Muslims kill us any way they can. And Black people are Black. We hear those answers and they are easy to understand. Maybe, we tell ourselves, we can get back to 1950s America if we can just send The Mexicans, Muslims, and Blacks back to where they came from.

But of course, its all a lie. In fact, if we want a racial explanation to our problems, we would inevitably find ourselves pointing fingers at White Americans like us. White Americans hike the prices of prescription medicines some of us can't live without by 500%. White Americans employ us and pay us stagnant wages for decades despite our productivity going up. White Americans charge us exorbitant tuition for college degree that leave us drowning in debt. White Americans conduct our financial system recklessly and make it crash costing us millions of jobs and foreclosed homes. White Americans send us to jail for smoking a harmless natural plant. White Americans make the choice to send us into meaningless wars. White Americans own and run the businesses that blow smoke into our skies and dump chemicals in our water.

So before we latch on to the answer that tells us that the dark skin people are the ones making our lives hell and things will be so much better if we get rid of them we need to examine how we treat each other. As far as I can tell our lives are difficult because we hate each other. Everyone is scratching and kicking the person next to them to get a piece of the materialistic pie. Trump tells us who to point the finger at but it's people like him we should be angry at. He's a part of the upper class White establishment that is bleeding us and this planet dry so that they can live the most comfortable existence.

So before you hit the polls in November, make sure you knw your problems and where they come from.

As a true swing voter, I'm still voting for Trump. It's a protest vote, I am certain that Hillary will win, but if she somehow doesn't (due to silent protest votes like myself) I can live with the Donald.

I did read some literature on Hillary's plan for a federal and state infrastructure plan and I must say I liked it. All politicians avoid infrastructure. Why? Who knows. There clearly aren't any lobbyists for it so there one solid reason to not care. Still, Hillary does not reach me.

That said, I really won't mind her presidency. I'm white collar as a developer, and I could drive to her Arlington residence in 20mins so you know my work is government related, even if I'm only a contractor. So her policy wouldn't really affect me at all.

So you might ask, why the fuck would I even consider Trump? I consider him because he is the only candidate to point out the flaws in our immigration system. One of the only two candidates (the only withstanding) to point out the flaws in out trade deals. He's also not afraid of even mentioning the fact that taking in Syrian refugees is a fucking losing proposition.

So that's that.

Here is my response summed up in a meme below. See you think people support Donald Trump because they are racist, and while that maybe true for some, it does not explain why half this country that votes is telling pollsters they are voting for him. Some are pure partisans, and they would vote for a baby eating atheist before a Democrat. Some are nationalists, some are xenophobes, but some people know who their enemies are, and that those people don't like Donald Trump, but seem to have no problem with Hillary Clinton.

See, when I read your post, what I see is the Democrat equivalent of when Republicans started talking about income inequality being a problem, while still purposing tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, and more corporate protectionism masquerading as free trade. You admit that there is no logical explanation to why things seem to be going so badly when they shouldn't be, and yet offer more of the same as the solution.

Lastly, the people of Greenland once elected a comedian, not because anyone thought he was going to fix anything, but because they thought the whole thing was a freaking joke. If Trump wins it won't be because we live in a nation of racists, it will be because the whole thing has become such a ridiculous joke, that people started treating it as the joke it is.

Sure, Trump definitely has flaws and his presidency could go very badly....but he could also be one of the greats.
List some of his flaws if you don't mind, it seems that you defend him in every single thread and don't acknowledge when he is on yhe wrong side of something, maybe im wrong , id be interested to see what your criticisms of Trump are .

Are people going to celebrate when/if Hillary gets elected?

Like they did when Obama got elected.

Should a rhetorical question be answered?

Like when it's super obvious what the answer is.

What do you think the answer is?

If people celebrated Obama's election in 2008, I imagine it was largely on account of two terms of GW Bush.
Considering Hilary already lost to Obama, the only celebration would be, "Not Trump!".

Unsurprisingly, no answer for you either. Typical, and why I refer to that user as the comebacklikeabadburritokid.

He has areas he clearly isn't knowledgeable about. He's also a bit of a ego maniac who lacks serious impulse control. I find many of his comments regarding faith and religion a bit off putting. He clearly isn't a believer but he's pretending to be one and often comes off insincere and inappropriate on those matters. I don't like the idea of deporting illegal aliens who are clearly decent people and have been here for significant period of time. Breaking up families that way would be a absolute disaster as the visuals and narrative it would create would fully rip all of us apart. His seeming desire to bone his daughter is a bit weird for me also.

Theres a few for you.

Okay you seem pretty aware he is a very flawed candidate (they both are )which makes it all the more strange that you are one of his biggest cheerleaders, i can understand holding your nose and voting for the guy but not the stumping for him that you are doing .

Every election is hugely celebrated. The WR provides an extremely unrepresentative sample, but, yeah, there would be millions of people who are really happy. That said, dodging the Trump bullet would be huge.
