The Republican establishment started to hate Cruz because he took the things they pretended to care about, while only pushing one real agenda, and pushed those side issues that weren't really what they cared about to the point that he damaged stocks and created instability by moronically acting like those side issues were subject to zero compromise at any time.

There are more problems with it than you think. These companies are now owned by China.. They don't have the control they want. The money saved in wage related expenses helped a lot of short term execs hit their quarterly bonus from a stock bump, but the reality on the ground is it isn't all roses for company not making anything here.
