This is not a coincidence or incompetence, no one will convince me that this wasn't on purpose to hurt their image. Snakes... snakes everywhere!
 
there was some guy on cnn from the rnc still sticking to it was a coincidence point. he had a list of rock lyrics that sound similar and read them off. it was embarrassing

I agree that the "sub-groups" thing was stupid, but this whole thing was started when the older gay man LARPing as George Lucas and the black woman openly bashed white people, and if that's the direction they want to take things, then it's fair to point out that much of the world we have today was contributed heavily by people of European descent. That's just the truth.

I'm really tired of this one-way narrative when it comes to race, specifically with white people. Imagine the shitshow that would come out of calling BLM "just a bunch of angry blacks." I'm far from one of those "white genocide!" idiots, but I'm extremely tired of one side openly being racist against whites only because they think whites are the privileged majority and deserve said racism. And note here I'm not just talking about skin color - it was the white bearded cuck on the right of that video who first opened that can of worms.

I watched the whole thing and disagree with you. First, you make it sounf like the other two were saying white people suck. That's not even accurate. They were saying that the GOP convention is really white and that is a problem for them. Which is unrefutably true. The King comes in and, not really defending whites as much as offending others, says that whites are the ones who have done everything.

I get your broader point, but you seem REALLY sensitive about any conversation about race to the point where you will side with they white guy on anything. Even this, which was just Steve King being his usual horrible self.

Steve King is the worst.

Who are the elite? Seems to me almost all the party leadership are on board with Trump.

That said, Cruz's name is fully expected to be placed in nomination today. Not that it will accomplish anything.

No, the white guy said it was just a bunch of "angry white people." Then the black woman said, "yeah, very white crowd. Very white crowd." So the narrative is part diversity, but it's also a part of a narrative that something being predominantly white is bad.

Then, of course, you had genderfluid Rachel Maddow feeling like a man today who went full Godwin and dropped Hitler on "western civilization."

The whole thing was a shit show. I don't really want to take the side of King because I don't like him, but it's part of an open pattern of white hatred that needs to be shut down. He said, “Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the Unites States of America and every place where the footprint of Christianity settled the world.” That statement is true. That's one area where I definitely agree with him. The sub-group thing was a bit dumb.

An MSNBC article about the incident:

Asked to reflect on his party’s challenge, Steve King told a national television audience that white people are awesome."
This is exactly what I was talking about. Oh noes! He told the crowd that white people are awesome! Seek your nearest safe space immediately.

This isn't the only time this sentiment has been on display. It's just one of the few times someone has pushed back on the notion. It has about as much as validity as the right talking about blacks only being Democrats because they're lazy and addicted to welfare.

The good thing about western societies is that your skin color doesn't matter - the parameters of our governments and the freedoms afforded to us allow people of all stripes to contribute to our learning.

After the rabble rousing yesterday (I had to go back and watch it, I missed it live), I wouldn't doubt at all if the Never Trump movement makes a final push today. They're acting like children.

Conservatives are upset seeing Trump as their nominee. No doubt about it. These moves aren't about today. They see Trump facing a pretty big uphill battle in winning this year. This is about 2020.

Melania and the Trump team done goofed. I'm not going to defend blatant plagiarism, whether it's from Melania or Obama. Either she wrote the speech and copied it almost word-for-word off of Michelle Obama, or her speechwriter plagiarized to hurt Melania and the Trump team didn't vet the speech properly.

It was a stupid thing to do. It was a bad move. It's not that big of a deal. Acknowledge the stupidity and move on.

Trump keeps going up and up in polls, even passing Hillary in some recent national polls.

Trump isn't their neoliberal, supply-side shill so they fear him. I live in red country and I've listened to people who say they can't support Trump. At the heart of it, they still believe he's a Democrat. Everything else they say in public is window dressing.

It comes down to the Obama coalition. If they turn out like they did in 08' and 12' she wins. If they don't then anything is possible.

I don't look at national numbers for the general. Really doesn't matter. I look at state polls and frankly it's early for that.

Yeah all polls are too early to tell for the most part, but it is true that Trump has made up a ton of ground.

The Democratic primaries were down big time from the past two election cycles. Hillary isn't going to get the same turnout with black voters that Obama did (karma for calling them super predators who need to be brought to heel and being supportive of tougher sentencing laws that disproportionally affected black men).
