The protesters have ensured the RNC will be must-watch television. They think they're fighting the "evil fascist" but all they're really doing is giving him more exposure because people want to watch now, just to see if anything happens.

That's true. I never watch conventions because I don't give a shit what any of these people say but now I'm interested because I feel we may see the actions of some ultraleftist terrorists.

Sounds like it's getting close to handing out hickory shampoos.

It describes about 75% of NASCAR's popularity - in the end, people just want to see some car wrecks.

I'm convinced it's true from memory, and a general knowledge of modern american history. I would be willing to gamble a large sum that I'm correct, but I'm not willing to do any work to convince anyone else though. If you want to verify or falsify it for yourself I would enjoy reading anything you find. I think just examining the electoral match ups since 68 can help.

:), I'm lazy too. I'm generally skeptical of that kind of claim, though, especially when people are relying on their own memory/perception. In a lot of cases, people get alarmed by trends that are going in a good direction because media sensationalism is what's really trending up (note for example that police killings have been falling steadily, while that's now a hot topic--I'd bet that most people think that they're on the rise). On the other hand, the GOP really has descended into pure hatemongering so maybe.

Anyway, good link relevant to the poll question today:

Seems pretty inconclusive to me, but a small bump for both candidates following their respective conventions may (marginally) be the best guess.

BTW: I hit "show ignored content" to see what Rex was responding to, and holy shit. How do people who view soda's posts even read the WR? Thank God for the ignore feature.

If I still had TV I'd watch it! The Olympics that is.

I'll check youtube to see what Dana White and the Sensations had to say at the RNC.
