Sure the independents determine the election. But i feel they will fall in line again and vote democrats in November.

why does that star power matter? is brad pitt's thoughts on something more important than scott baio's because he is more famous? i see a lot of dems in here hung up on star power and quality of speeches given by people who are not running for president than the candidates themselves. so hillary is the choice because obama, biden and michelle obama gave better speeches than scott baio, antonio sabato and melania trump. that makes no sense. of course that is the era we are in. obama was elected because he could speak, and half the people that love him do so because he hangs out with beyonce

Kinda rambly, but I will try.

Regarding star power in an era where a reality star is a presidential candidate, yes it matters. Whether it should or not aside, it does. Celebrity gets eyes on the screen. Some people admire famous people and value their opinions. I have a hunch more people value Meryl Streep's opinion than Charles in Charge's.

Regarding the value of effective public speaking in a representative democracy, the reasons it is important is too many to count. The era we live in? Are you serious? Public speaking has been important as long as human civilizatiin has been around. What a ridiculous assertion.

There needs to be a separation of celebrity and state.
 
I think the DNC has had both better speeches and speakers (if we totally ignore the hilarious pandering to every minority group one can think of)

The biggest caveat to that was -- at least at the RNC they didn't boo every time their candidate was mentioned...nor did they have to resort to pay offs and technology to mitigate the chances of boo's being heard.

I give the DNC for quality of speaking -- at least from the articulation standpoint... but the RNC didn't have their crowd booing their nominee -- I consider that a win.

I didn't hear his speech, but one thing I respect about Chachi is that he broke up with a prime Pamela Anderson because she didn't like his dog.

She's kind of a joke now, but she was worth the popularity in her hayday.
