He led us through the Great Depression and WWII, two of the most tumultuous and dangerous times in American history.

He's one of America's greatest Presidents.

I don't dislike FDR, but its not like his policies actually got us out of the depression, or made any significant strategic/military contributions to win WW2. His policies to revive the economy had all failed by the start of the war and we weren't any better than when he took office, and he had the benefit of being president of one of the few "popular wars" in US history. Hes not like Lincoln where he had to work to convince the American population to keep fighting every week.

He got lucky the war came along to save the economy, and was lucky the Russians already sapped the Germans of 95% of their manpower and offensive initiative.

It's not like if Willkie or Dewey got elected we would have lost the war or anything.

He was a good president, but clearly not on the level of Washington or Lincoln. At best he is a distant third.

George inherited slavery. It was an institution that spanned the entire south of the country and had deep roots. Acting like he made a decision to be a slaveowner the way FDR sat down and made a decision to intern an entire ethnic group is absurd. Interning people was not an institution with deep roots that thousands of people participated in, for better or worse.
