2016 Best Head Gear

Okay, so I am debating... Doing mostly MT, with occasional boxing.

Winning FG2900 vs Fairtext Super Sparring

My main reservations with Winning:
  • Lack of back of the head protection
  • 24 inches so not sure to go L or 2L.
  • Kick visibility
Anyone able to comment?

Back padding could be an issue, i havent had an issue. Up to you really

The sizing id go with Large. My head measures 23.5 and large fits perfectly, i think you'd have some room for the extra .5 in a large. 2L for 24in might be a little too big

As for kicks no complaints man, unless you're trying to look up over the guys head then you should be able to see anything and everything coming at you.

i prefer the winning over the the fairtex super sparring headgear just so much comfier, i have a 23" head and the L and 2L fit me fine, with the 2L the headgear is completely closed at the back, kick visibility no issues as long as you keep your chin down. If your concerned with getting smashed in the back of the head, i would just say to your sparring partners to "chill the fuck out your hitting my in the back of the head hard stop being a dickhead" i mostly spar without headgear with no issues. If you don't feel comfortable doing that you can always get Gorilla's Tyro headgear if you want a thick lightweight Mexicanish style headgear with padding on the back. it is damn good cheap headgear.

- FG 5000: Outstanding coverage, but slightly larger than the 2900, which makes evasion harder to achieve. Also the visibility is not as good. That being said, I can barely feel the shots with this thing. Just be aware that long noses an easily touch the facebar negating the protection.

Is this really a problem with FG5000? I had Reyes facebar the newer model and it sucked. The bar always hit my nose when i ate a shot and it hurt like hell. Will i have the similar problem with FG5000?
I would not say i have a long nose but i do not have a flat or small nose by any means.

I am looking for a facesaver headgear and dont want to spend a lot of money for FG5000 if i will face similar issue that i had with Cletos newer model.
I already own a FG2900 but i have been looking for a facesaver quite some time now. Sabas Facesaver or FG5000 are the ones i have been juggling with.
