The only time I ever really got into the summer league was when the Heat drafted Beasley #2 overall. I thought he was going to have his way with the NBA.

lol

I want to say Bulls dodged a bullet with him but seeing how Derelict isn't even playing, I don't know.

I don't think there's ever been anyone like Beasley before or since. There's been draft busts, but Beasley has set the benchmark for ultimate draft disappointment. It's not even like he got injured or is simply to small/unathletic to compete at the NBA level. He's flashed that college dominance on NBA courts for entire games at a time, so the talent/ability is there, but he really is/was just a headcase who couldn't take his job seriously enough to put it all together. He seemed to have been making a genuine effort this past season, but he might have dug himself too deep a hole where now no team will ever consider him a potential lead guy.

With the exception of Tobias Harris, these Orlando players we're talking about were all lottery picks

Oladipo - 2nd overall pick
Harkless - 15th overall pick (and already an above-avg 3pt shooter)
Harris - 19th overall pick
Gordon - 4th overall pick
Payton - 10th overall pick

These aren't random cans who were drafted to be the next Thabo Serfoloshit, the Magic are expecting at least 2-3 of these guys to develop into legit All-Star level players. Which is a reasonable expectation.

Oladipo is a poor mans Wade. I doubt he becomes a good shooter.

I'll take your word on Harkless, Harris too. From all pre draft scouting, Gordan can't shoot his way out of a gun shop, and Payton is poor at best.

They can be all stars, Gordon and Oladopo especially. Not sure about the res.

I remember when Bill Walker and OJ Mayo were gonna be sure fire, number 1 picks.

Mayo especially. The busts in basketball are so much sadder, because most of the times, the players match the hype. The greats exceed them.

I hated the Noah pick. Didn't like him at all, didn't thin he'd be good. Wanted Acy Law really badly lol.

Tru dat

He was supposed to be the best player in this picture. Now he's a fat sad man in Milwaukee.

I've definitely said this before, but I used to break his will. I was never close to professional ball, but when I played in my prime, I was all world defense caliber. I knew he would have trouble on the pro level because bigger guards could muscle him defensively (we were about the same height, but I had some weight on him), and if you could slow down the pace of the game and really lock in, you could shut him down. In an up and down game with poor defenders (basically pick up ball), and an incredibly fast pace, he could definitely bang though.

3pt% is a weak barometer of shooting ability.

Take a guy like Juice. Any NBA player would hit 55%+ from 3 if he got Juice's looks (nobody within 10 feet of him due to fear of the roid rush/inevitable rigged whistle). His 3pt % might look ok on paper, but in reality he is an atrocious shooter and has proven it time and time again.

Knicks targeting Melo-Gasol combo...
The New York Knicks are increasingly optimistic about their chances of re-signing star Carmelo Anthony even as he readies himself to talk to other teams next week, according to sources close to the situation.

Sources told ESPN.com that Knicks officials, while not willing to trumpet it publicly with free agency fast approaching, are quietly confident about their odds of retaining Anthony thanks in part to the idea that new team president Phil Jackson and the high-scoring forward have "connected" to some degree.

Furthermore, one source close to the process told ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne that Jackson is planning to make a determined attempt to try to recruit his former Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol to replace the freshly traded Tyson Chandler alongside Anthony on the Knicks' front line, despite the fact New York is limited to offering Gasol less than $4 million for next season.

Means one of Amare or Bargs will be on their way out if this goes down.

They would be lucky to get 1 all star out of the group. Maybe Gordon makes some. Im definitely not calling Harkless an above avg 3pt shooter yet either beause he made .7 per a game on wide open attempts.

lmfao @ Based Phil getting rid of Amerie and Barney Arney.

Even he's not that good. Couldn't convince Kerr to take the gig, and he's gonna get Pua to take less then 4 mill?

Impossibru.

Pau isn't good anymore. If the one true can't carry you nobody can

LOVE the Shabazz pick and most importantly LeGoatMVP loves it as well. They can bring Chalmers back just hopefully on the cheap. Trade Cole for a future 2nd.

Heat next year:

Napier
Bradley (Riles will work some magic)
James
Lewis
Bosh

Bench: Wade
Chalmers
Gortat
Miller
Allen
Beasley
Hamilton

Also lol @ Phil thinking Pua would attract Melo back
