Apparently I'm the only Sixer fan that likes what they did.

Embiid was the easy pick with Wiggins and Parker gone. The Saric pick is strange because he's going to be playing in Turkey for a few years but our FO liked him.

I really liked the McDaniels and Grant picks as well.

I'm all for whatever Hinkie has planned.

Something occurred to me earlier today. My theory: Bern opted out a week before the deadline so that he could negotiate/plan agreements with other impending FAs without being charged with tampering/collusion.

Think about it. Bern ceased to be an employee of the Miami Heat the moment he opted out of his Heat contract. So he's free to recruit players to Miami at that point. Free agency doesn't start until July 1, but Bern has had since June 24 to communicate with impending FAs whereas GMs around the league are prohibited from doing so.

The general consensus is that Bern opting out a week early was an unusual move. It may just be a coincidence, but Bern opted out on Tuesday after Carmelo opted out on Monday. Was Melo the first domino that had to fall? Perhaps Melo opting out a week before the deadline was the signal to Bern that Melo is serious about making something happen here, and so Bern opted out the next day so that the two of them could begin collaborating on a plan to get Melo to Miami.

Melon, Bern, and Napier would be fucking nasty

That is a good explanation though, the collusion idea

And with this, we can close the book on Juice's legacy. What an embarrassment of a player.

Interesting. Chad Ford said he hasn't met anyone who believed Bruno Caboclo was gonna be there @ 37th. Masai might've picked up a gem.

It should have also occurred to you that LeBron isn't officially a FA until July 1st, so he isn't any more 'free' to communicate with other impending FAs than he was before June 24th.

Any more crazy theories?

Already has two nicknames.

Brazilian Kevin Durant.

2 Years Away from being 2 Years Away.

Destined for greatness.

More like "the Brazilian Quincy Miller/Perry Jones"

Toronto knows that they'll never get star players to come play there. That's why they swing for homeruns on the international market.

Their fans will never understand that. It was the smartest thing Colangelo did.

agreed, but I think colangelo isn't the gm anymore. But I could be wrong since I don't follow shitty teams.

1) Check the rustle

2) Are you sure about that?

He's not free to sign with another team until July 1st, but it would seem that by opting out of his contract he effectively terminated his employment with the Heat. Whether this is indeed the case might come down to Bern's 2013-14 paycheck schedule. The default schedule is 24 checks/yr paid biweekly every month. But Bern's contract qualifies for a 12 check schedule paid over 6 months beginning in November of each year.

For argument's sake let's assume Bern took the 6 month schedule. His contract covering the 2013-14 season has already expired. Since he doesn't have a contract for the 2014-15 season, it would stand to reason that he is not currently under contract and is therefore not employed by the Heat.

Not reading any of Faust's post since he's wrong.

I don't think any of us know for certain who's right and who's wrong in this case. I'm simply trying to investigate the issue so that we can hopefully arrive at the truth eventually.

Protip: this is how science works
