This is a case where advanced stats are wrong. Boozer had one of the best DRTG in the league last year, completely inflated by his solid DRB percentage and obviously playing for the bulls. We'll say how that translates to the Lakers, although firing Dantoni will immediately lower like 7 pts for every guys DRTG

LOLOL. This is why I avoid the use of can pseudo stats like DRTG. Some people like to trumpet these stats as scientific gospel. The truth is people that use stats like these for arguments here are about as scientific as the cast of Ancient Aliens.

lol there's nothing wrong with using advanced stats when you can place them in proper context

That's the thing, people throw out these useless stats all the time without context.

Typical SB advanced pseudo stats argument: This team would dominate the league defensively, they are all in top 20 of defensive win shares bros:

pg: Steff Curry
sg: Jimmy Butler
sf: Mike Dunleavy Jr.
pf: Carlos Boozer
c: Marcin Gortat

I never see advanced stats used to defend Loozer here. I see Loozer used to discredit advanced stats all the time.

Gortat is a pretty good defender, though he wouldn't be in my top 20.

'Los Booze still getting paid by the Bulls tho. Chicago spending quite a bit of money for a second rd exit this season.

The guy in your av is giving bouche max money to lead miami to an 8 seed.

cant wait to see how bad the knicks and lakers are this year. should be fun

I'm sure david stern is rolling over in his grave.

I like how the Lakers are talking about who is going to play what position when they don't even have a coach yet. smdh.

lol @ the Lakes offering Byron Scott a HC jerb and him not responding yet. Even unemployed retreads are hesitant to coach those cans.

Booker at SF is a two way street. It lets Hill play PF, and hes a better consistent defender and legitimate rebounder than Boozer. Boozer gets boards but he perfected the blatant push in the lower back to clear space technique (now mastered by Deandre Jordan).

That also means Boozer has to now guard 3s???? Good lord, thats a horrendous decision, especially when you have Wesley Johnson (a much more athletic and versatile defender) on the roster. Plus Boozer cant shoot 3s, so there's that...

The Lakers have their coach. The question is what figurehead will be brought in to make coach Kooby happy (and less prone to rape).

Actually just looked it up. Jordan Hill last year only played 20 MPG (dat Dantoni rotation), but his per 36 #s were 16.7/12.8 on 54.9% shooting. He also had a PER of 19.3 and 4.4 WS (.141 per 48)

Boozer's per 36 last year were 17.5/10.6 on 45.6% shooting. PER of 14.4 and 3.4 WS (.076 per 48)

Hill made 3.5 mil last year, did get probably a lil overpaid at 9 mil per this year (probably should've got 6-7 until he can prove performance in starters minutes)
Boozer made over 15 last year, and due 16 mil this year. Why even bother signing Boozer when Hill is clearly a significantly better value, and if they're playing Booz at the 3, i'm assuming Sacre will play the 5/Hill the 4?

Why not play Hill at C, Booz at PF, and Wesley at SF...
