Are the Red Sox going through a full rebuild now? If so will they resign Lester?

No they just arnt gonna make the playoffs and Peavy is gone after this year, plus Workman needs to be in the rotation and not in Pawtucket.

I think they will end up paying Lester, because if they dont and he goes to NY the fans are gonna lost it...

They really dropped the ball with that low ball 4 year 70 mill offer. He said he would take a home town discount and thats what they offered him.

back in March/April i think 5/110 would have gotten it done but after the low ball offer its probably 5/125 or 6/150 for the Sox to bring him back.

Pedroia resigned at a hometown discount last season, I assume red sox management thought Lester would do the same. He's having a huge season if he gets to free agency sounds like he will he doesn't want to negotiate anymore, he could get a crazy offer from the Yankees.

Looking at the everyday position players the sox have up right now Holt, Bogaerts, Bradley jr, Vazquez, and Betts when they trade Drew, it's a lineup filled with talented unproven inexperienced players. Maybe the sox wait a year or two before they load up in free agency this offseason crop of FA doesn't look appealing at all.

I remember Corona recently posting something the other day about Jamaal Charles extension was like the equivalent of like a #4 starter. Given the recent news with Lynch holding out I just read that Nate McLouth is making as much as him this season.

He would only be an "idiot" if he doesn't have a no trade clause in the contract. Not sure about Pedroia case, but he will retire with more than a 150 million dollars. I doubt he's losing sleep over it.

Im pretty sure Uggla doesnt have a history of concussions so he fits half of that criteria.

it's different for mid market teams like the Royals who just don't have the money. The sox rake in cash, but don't want to pay their players.

If a team makes a lot of money it doesn't mean they should overpay for players either. I'm sure the Yankees aren't going to enjoy paying A-Rod 60 million over the next three seasons.

Agree with that, but remember Lester had a rough 2012 season, and a rough first half of last season before turning it around. Both sides want a fair deal, the Yankees will probably give him a stupid contract.

I am wondering what the Cards will do with him when Yadi comes back. Cruz will probably be sent down.
