The best story I heard from Gwynn was when Rickey came to SD for a brief period, he got on the bus after his first game and went to sit down in the front seat. The manager told him the front of the bus was reserved for guys with tenure with the club. Rickey got up confused and walked back a few seats while muttering to himself "ten year? Rickey got fifteen years in the bigs". I fucking lost it listening to Tony tell that story.

Another fav was about John Olerud. He had a brain aneurism or something at one point in his career and wore a batting style helmet like the base coaches now wear on the field. Rickey played with him in Toronto and then years later again with the Mets. Well Rickey recalled the helmet and told John, hey I played with a guy in Toronto that wore a helmet like that while playing the field. Olerud had to break it to Rickey, yeah Rick, that was me.
 
Wow. Tough ending in Pitt. Throw comes to the plate and the runner is meat by 8ft in the bottom of the 9th and the ball skipped over Mesoraco's head.

4 saves in 4 days for K-Rod, good stuff.

K-Rod, Thornburg, Smith, Kintzler have a combined 0.24 ERA in 37.2 innings this season. Not bad.

Im not sure what adjustments hes made but 2 years ago he was awful. Whatever he did it worked. His velocity isnt what it was but hes been locating his fastball well on the corners and thats making his changeup even harder to hit.

Your doge Ramirez went deep as well. Hes hitting like .700 with runners in scoring position lol
