does it bother anyone else that IPs are reported on box scores / stat sheets as say; 7.0, 7.1 and 7.2, instead of 7.00, 7.33, 7.67?
For a numbers game, and now sabermetrics, etc... that's fucked up. I remember like 20 years ago when I was learning decimals and baseball around the same time I said to my dad while watching a Jays game "that's not using decimals right", and he told me to shut up and get him a beer (ok that didn't happen).
Is there any history or logic to why innings are reported like that, or is it just easier to understand for the mathematically challenged? I guess tradition is probably why it will never change to be mathematically correct.
