Possum's right. This is why I never thought Belgium or the US stood a chance against Argentina. Both of us play so wide and then collapse in, whereas, say, the Germans will the get the ball narrow up to Khedeira or Sweini, stretch the D line with a pass to Ozil or Muller, then come back in. That also helps defensively, because it's easier to recover the ball going wide to narrow than the inverse.
That's why Belgium can't keep the ball after they attack the box. 6 guys on the line, 3 defenders sitting back; it's just not enough to cover ground.
