2013 Cain Velasquez is the UFC heavyweight GOAT

Haven't been here in like 10 years. We'll see if I've reached Boomer status.

I don't even understand this Stipe nonsense. You really believe that prime Stipe is going to beat a prime Cain? That's absurd? Ngannou? Really? Go home. This is a grown up conversation.

You put too much on title defenses and crap. Prime Cain rag dolls every heavyweight walking today, save MAYBE Jon Jones.
Relatively easy fight for prime stipe

Beating Francis, Werdum, Alistair, jds, hunt cormier x2 >> everything Cain ever did.
Cains best win, jds koed him before Cain beat him twice
Stipes best win, dc koed him before stipe beat him twice
DC >>>> JDS by a mile
I don't see a single area for argument here
Fedor > both but stipe is number 2

While I have constantly said Stipe is overrated and has never really beaten a good fighter in their prime and has padded his resume against geriatrics with name value.

come on man Cains sample size of success was too small.

True but nothing Cain did tells me a healthy Cain is a GOAT. Ironically his downfall was gassing against' Werdum. "Sea level cain beats everyone"

I don't even buy the narrative that Cain "gassed" against Werdum... he was getting his ass lit up on the feet and panic wrestled and got choked out... the history of Cain's insane cardio is proof enough that it was the damage that caused him to crumble not his gastank.

Werdum exposed Cain as a below average striker that depended heavily on the takedown threat to succeed... Werdum had zero fear of the takedown, and ultimately proved far better on the feet AND on the ground.

You are 100% right. Maybe I just think of GOAT differently. I'm thinking the absolute pinnacle. Not necessarily sustained success, though that is part of it.

I think of folks at the top of their game. Their peak. The guy, or gal, you could pluck from their apex and put them anywhere, and they won't be beat. Is Stipe the most accomplished heavyweight ever? Sure. But the greatest fighter? I mean that's what the F stands for right? (Props to Chael Sonnen for consistently pointing that out). I doubt it.
I think you have a good case then. That Cain who beat brock and JDS twice and Koed Nog, he might be the best.
