2013-2016 Conor is the greatest peak fighter I've ever seen in MMA

His featherweight run is undeniably one of the best debut to title streaks you’ll likely see. Add in all the hype it really was a fun time to be a fan. It did however lead to me losing interest in MMA. Conor inspired a lot of the trash talk and money talk in fighters, the only problem was that majority of them couldn’t string a sentence together or just had no charisma.

So funny watching people here dismiss Conor's record. It's crazy the mental gymnastics that go on. Conor's rise to the top was unstoppable and it's easy to overlook because of how he turned out afterwards. Conor used to be dedicated to MMA and probably was the greatest FW of all time when he was in his prime.
It’s like that with most athletes when they fall from Grace publicly.

Aldo is the only elite win in that list without a major asterix on it. Jon Jones had a waaaay more impressive run.

The Aldo win has an asterix alright, he lost by KO so the excuses are brushed off but without the UFC's support (long ass press conferences torturing aldo day in and day out) the outcome could have been pretty different. Aldo never rushes in face first.

He got his timing right, for sure. Good resume, but looks better on paper than it is in reality.

Better on paper ? He beat Mendes, Holloway, Aldo, Poirier when they were relevant and had a great record. It's not like he beat washed up aging fighters (hello Jon Jones), even if Holloway was not in his prime, for sure.

Durrrr.

Conors peak doesnt even crack the top 10. Probably not even the top 15.

Im sure he's in the top 20 tho.

It was a legendary run for sure.

Anderson in his prime is the GOAT though.

I know Conor is a joke nowadays but sometimes it's hard to remember just how good he was at his peak when he took fighting seriously and didn't have all the money and fame he does today.

From 2013 to 2016 Conor went on an insane run beating Holloway, Poirier, Mendes, Aldo, Diaz, and Alvarez all while becoming the first double champ. What's even crazier is that in that period he missed a year after tearing his ACL, but came back and picked up like he never left. It was truly an unreal run, and seems almost fabricated when compared to the washed up drunk he is today. 2013-2016 Conor is as good as it will ever get in the UFC.
I disagree for me it was always Jon Jones. If Jon Jones wins the heavyweight title then it is clear. Though he did cheat, I believe a lot of people are cheating.

Some will not ignore the PEDs and I am not saying their shouldn't be a asterisk on Jon Jones. But Jon beat the best of the best every time.

Conor at FW was king but the LW title was always Khabib's and Conor never beat him.

Lol what - thats got to be the least 'asterisk-able' win in MMA - KO'd stiff in 13 seconds.

I always kinda felt an immediate rematch between them was deserved based on Aldo's reign but there was a legit argument not to because it was such a total destruction.

inthink jon jones run was much more legendary, finished the old generation, then his, then the new.

Bjs run at LW also

When Anderson joined the ufc

GSPs reign of dominance

McGregor could have, but we will never know

Yes I addressed that in my second sentence, he lost by KO so it gets brushed off but what are the circumstances to that fight? When has Aldo EVER run in face first trying to land something on the opening bell? And i'm not even an Aldo fan, I actually manage to piss someone off real bad everytime i say i think Frankie Edgar could have taken those last 3 rounds home and the belt :)

I prefer Conor now,.his physique is much more solid and he has excellent teeth.

2011-2015 Jon Jones was probably capable of defeating any fighter you put in front of him, regardless of the weight class or era you slapped him in.

I get what you're trying to say but Aldo ran in face first because Conor broke him mentally.

He was absolutely correct in what he said at the time that the way he overwhelmed Aldo with his personality meant Aldo didn't go in there and fight his fight, it was the exact same with Alvarez. That doesen't mean those wins are in any way devalued though, the build up and the psychological war is part of the fight.

If anything in later years Conor seemed to get wound up by people thinking 'mental warfare' was an important part of his game and just wanted people to praise his skillset but thats bc hes a guy with massive fuckin insecurity issues about himself. He used that mental warfare in those fights to make them exactly what he wanted and he won them fair and square.

Only happened because the UFC gave him the platform to do it.

C'mon Conor talks out of his ass and people gobble it all in but he can't go through glass walls to snatch Aldo's belt if the UFC doesn't open a door for him. They did Aldo dirty man. Big fucking time.

Payback for his loss to frankie? lol

People also always try and say Conor only takes easy fights but since Poirier 1 back in 2014 he's only fought top 5 opponents except his stay busy fight against Siver while Aldo was injured/refusing to defend. And Siver was still #10.

That's 10/11 of his last opponents being top 5, yet people still try and shit on him. It's ridiculous. Even Jones' run has lesser ranked fighters than that. Yet people instead act like he's fighting bums.

Complain about the rankings if you want, but don't pretend he hasn't been fighting high level opponents for the last 9 years. He has.

Conor was literally practicing that exact same move in the locker room pre-fight. Clearly he expected it, regardless of you not equally expecting it.

It's almost like he's the professional fighter who had prepared for Aldo and you're just the bitter fanboy who can't accept it.

Yep. Started focusing on boxing and that was a wrap for him though.
It wouldn't have been if he actually had better boxing training. The problem is the boxing training he's getting sucks. That's why he hasn't improved. His old boxing coach isn't going to get him to world boxing skill level, what world elite level boxers does he train? His bjj coach from SBG won't get him to that level, he probably can't even throw a real solid punch. His bodyguards holding pads for him won't be able to get him to that level. So that's really the reason his boxing sucks. Level of training and level of boxing sparring. That's why he got dropped by an amateur boxer during his sparring sessions.

After all this time he still only really has a 1-2 and a dip right lead uppercut to left cross. With an occasional 1-2, 1-2. He's working on hooks on his videos but they are all slow and light. He focused too much on muscle and all his punches are all push punches now, no snap. He still doesn't have a solid jab and a non existent inside game. If he was training some legit boxing he would be a much better fighter, but he's not so he's regressed in skill set.
