I don't get why Barca weren't in for Hummels, or any other top centre-back for that matter. They've been lacking in that area for years yet refused to strengthen it.

Hummels and Reus would be perfect for Barca. I guess Messi is jealous of handsome and efficient germans, cant have them at Barca

Well they did sign Fellaini, though that hasn't panned out well. CM has always been an issue, but like you've said--they've already signed Herrera. United just lost Rio and Vidic, leaving a pretty inconsistent central defense. Evans and Smalling are not good enough to anchor an elite club, and Jones is still young. I'd take Hummels and a lesser known CM with Strootman in January over Vidal plus a lesser CB at this point. I'm greedy, though, and want both.
