Wow. A very emotional vid this:

shouldn't they be keeping domestic players to meet the quota?

Yep! I think Lallana's and Shaw's prices just went up, if City are in the market for more English talent. If I was either of them, I wouldn't want to go there (having seen how they've treated other promising English players) but Southampton can at least use City to drive the price up.

Louis Van Gaal has officially been appointed Manchester United Manager. Ryan Giggs is his Assistant Manager.

In B4 Louis Can Gaal ...

So, has he quit as Netherlands coach right before the world cup?

No, why would he quit right before the World Cup?

why appoint him and announce him, if he can't even manage until after the world cup?

This also unsettles the Netherlands team as the manager's mind is already elsewhere.

Grasping at straws?

He was always going to leave the Netherlands job after the WC so the approach doesn't change, there's nothing to be unsettled about.

He's appointed now because it was a poorly kept secret and the club doesn't like these things dragging on. He was getting hounded every day by the media anyway asking him United questions. Plus he can still be in contact with the club regarding transfers etc. What's the point letting it drag out?

What a difference to the Moyes appointment. Whether he succeeds or not, at least we know things will be interesting.

LOL, you've lost the plot.

He won't do any transfer dealings until after the WC. I am sure Woodward is already working on deals though, especially if LVG gave the okay on the player.

Sounds like Giggs is going to announce his retirement shortly. Sad times, but the correct decision since he will be an Assistant next year. The player coach thing really didn't work imo.

Funnily enough that means the numbers 7, 9 & 11 are all available for next season.

#9 has been available for a while, since The Berba left, I think.

Yeah, it has been, just funny to have so many traditional numbers vacant at once.

Truly is an end of an era. Giggs, Vidic & Rio all gone, Fergie & Scholes last year, and Phelan of course.

Exciting times ahead though. The type of Manager we should have gone for from the start so hopefully we can have a productive summer and get back to playing some better football next year.

Given his coaching history I'd settle for a Barca/Bayern hybrid play style. :icon_chee

Can't remember any recent player managers really.

Dennis Wise was decent when he led Milwall to the fa cup final in 2004
