still think mourhino was nuts selling mata

Well he was nuts not to play him...........at the end of the day, if he only saw him as a bench player, 37,000,000 was fantastic money for him (basically financed Matic and Salah for him).

Officially a Chelsea fan for tomorrow. Got me grandads old SS uniform out and I might post something anti-semitic in Mayberry

Yeah normally MUFC has used the evolution not revolution policy- think the opposite is needed this summer. Only about 5 of the first team squad should feel safe.

Players United should definitely keep for the first team: Rooney, Mata, Van Persie, Valencia and De Gea (Player of the season for united)

Players United should keep based on youth and potential: Jones, Smalling, Rafael, Januzaj and Welbeck(unless he wants to make a stink about not playing, then get rid of him).

Players United should definitely sell: Cleverley, Buttner, Nani, Young, Hernandez(I think he's a quality sub/fill in but they just never play him) and Kagawa (same as Hernandez).

Players United should keep but used as subs or for injury fill ins, otherwise sell: Carrick, Fletcher, Fellaini, Ferdinand, Evra (doesn't look likely to happen) and Evans.

What I think they need: Top level CB, especially now that Vidic is leaving. Good LB, with Evra getting older and possibly leaving, Buttner is utter shite. I think RB is pretty solid, Rafael is getting better defensively and I actually think Jones and Smalling do a good job in that position. A couple real wingers, high level pace and crossing ability. A bulldog DM player, a real hard man that breaks up play and can pass the ball. Maybe a good CAM, but I think Mata should hold that position. However if they can get Marco Reus, that's quality that you can not pass up on. Also a young striker with lots of potential, someone with real pace and mobility United lose by playing Van Persie. Hernandez does fit that mould, but I think he's sick of not being played.

Valencia as certain stayer? Weird- he's regressed massively in the last 2 years.

Hernandez and especially Kagawa will probably get more time under a more attack minded manager.

Fellani is the biggest miss in the squad, imo- worse than Cleverly or Young. After a whole season, I'm still not sure what position he plays or what position he was bought to play in.....would probably struggle to get 10million for him at this point. Let's hope he has a good world Cup.

It really depends on how ruthless the club feels and how we want to play going forward. I think the players that should be sold for certain and or retire are: Anderson, Young, Buttner, Fellaini, Rio, Giggs & of course Vidic is already off to Inter.

I'm not so sure the club will want to much turnover in one summer, players like Cleverley and Valencia are clearly rated by the staff and are given every chance despite their consistently average performances. Players like Kagawa & Hernandez would thrive with better management and both are also clearly rated highly.

We obviously need a defensively sound centre mid and a full time LB that Evra can cover for. A more consistent winger (Januzaj is promising and Zaha doesn't seem ready) and a back up RB (though we may be able to promote a youngster like Varela to cover) which allows Jones, Smalling & Evans to be the full time CB's. I don't know if Michael Keane is ready for a spot in the squad so perhaps another CB. GK and ST are stocked.

Really though we need a manager to get these guys going again. There is a lot of talent in the squad, we just need someone to bring it all together along with the necessary additions in key positions that have been talked about for years now. It really is a massive summer for the club.

I think that under the right manager, he can be successful. They may get more time, if they stick around to find out. I really think Hernandez is at breaking point with no playing, Kagawa seems to be more comfortable with his situation.

I think if you play Fellaini in front of the back 4, he does a decent job. Especially against a crossing team, he has aerial presence. The fact that we'd only get 10 million for him is a reason to keep him, 10 million is not going to make or break us.

I forgot about Anderson, I honestly didn't know he still played for United, he needs to go. I don't think Rio is gonna retire just yet, he hasn't said anything about it yet. I think he can still do a decent job at CB, plus the younger guys can learn from him.

The club will want turnover and lots of it, you don't offer up a 150-200 million pound fund if you don't want turnover. Any manager that isn't David Moyes of Sir Alex will see that Cleverley is absolutely terrible and send him packing.

I'm tired of hearing about these younger talents coming through, there is no way that come september, United are relying on the likes of Varela and Michael Keane. How exactly is ST stocked? This is the problem with some United fans, the lack of demand for quality. Van Persie is getting older and is very injury prone, United need someone who can cover and take over the position when Van Persie is gone. United need someone who can come off the bench if the RVP route doesn't work, someone with pace and mobility.

Up front is the one area we are definitely ok with. RVP, Wellbeck, Hernandez and Rooney. Kagawa, Mata and potentially Juanzaj can play at 10 as well......even Heriquez has shown some promise as well. RVP is only 30- hardly ancient, especially for a player who doesn't rely on pace.

As for the young talent coming through- you're not meant to rely on them. You are meant to blood them and give them a chance to learn from the senior players........you can't have 25 superstars in your squad.

I don't lack a demand for quality and I didn't say we would rely on Varela and Keane. They could be squad options though. I hope United don't become a club that simply spends a bucket load on back ups but instead gives young players a chance to show us what they can do in a limited role. That's always been the ethos and it should be. I only want us to buy quality if it means they will start every game.

ST is stocked because we have 4 players for one position. I don't understand how you can say we lack quality there? If RVP is out Rooney plays there. Welbeck and Hernandez are also very good options. Welbeck's goal record when actually played as a ST is pretty good this year.

We obviously need a pair of midfielders and a starting LB. They are the urgent needs. With those additions it would allow for a better balance and perhaps free Rooney to not have to drop deep all the time but instead play as a proper striker again. Couple that with a proven coach and we will be in good stead. This squad is better than they've shown this year.
