Just wanted to make a log to keep track of eating up until a tournament. Shouldn't be a large cut (<10lbs) so I don't have to be insane about what I eat.

Also I'm only cutting down to 199.9 instead of 189.9 like I have in the past. As my first NAGA at purple belt, the weight class goes from every 10lbs. to 175-199.9 so cutting down to 189 is pointless. I might diet down over the next month to 188.5 for US Grappling, but as I'm doing two open divisions, it might be smarter to just train hard to weigh in at the top end of the next bracket @ 203.

NAGA is in two weeks and US Grappling is in 7.

Either way, this log is just for me to help me keep track of stuff.
 
August 23rd, 2010 (13 days to tournament)

Low carb day:

breakfast

8 eggs &#8211; 32g fat, 48g protein

lunch

30 almonds &#8211; 20g fat (15=10g fat)
shake &#8211; 100g protein

dinner

turkey sausage - 15g fat / 25g protein
olive oil - 25g fat
vegetables - trace carbs
shake - 50g protein

night
celery
a ton of peanut butter

Keeping meals and macros real simple.

I figure that I need roughly 2400 for maintenance level

I weighed in at 196 after a hard gi practice last week, 207 at night after eating, and after getting sick this weekend and eating a bunch of crap, I bloated up to 213. I figure within a day or two of low carb, I will have burned off a little bit of fat and hopefully won't be holding so much water. Should be back to 206-207 by wednesday.

medium carb day since i have bjj tonight. hopefully some of this water comes off. im still around 212.

low carb day again. weight was back at 207 this morning. we found last night that the scale that told me I was 196 was wayyyyyyyyyy off. It told me 189 last night when I was 206.8 after rolling. When I got home and rehydrated I was 213.

lunch (forgot my freaking lunch at home, was supposed to be pasta and chili, had to make due with what i had here)

dinner
a whole bunch of mexican food. chips and all. other than the chips and maybe beans and meat (which didn't look greasy), there shouldn't have been any fat in the meal. just the carbs from rice, beans, tortilla (well, maybe that had fat in it), and chips. i desperately needed a refuel. it wasn't a cheat meal, but not as clean as it should've been.

Good luck with the tournaments, wish I had noticed this log sooner.

I've definitely gotten away from the gi over the past year (not really by choice), but it would be nice to find a no-gi on a weekend I'm not working, studying, etc.
 
For naga I have purple belt gi, and expert nogi. Then US Grappling is Purple belt gi, Absolute purple belt gi, Advanced nogi, absolute advanced nogi. Should be fun. wish there were more divisions at naga though. they said since they are giving out champ belts for both of my divisions, they don't want yet another division running at the same time. yikes.

weight 208 this morning. water manipulation starts in a few days. i'd be lying if i said i was really excited to start drinking a ton of water and having to go to the bathroom every hour.

Had quite a bit to eat today, but all carbs and protein, little to no fat. I'll update with exact foods when i remember to garb my lsit from home

Low carb day. Today we start water and salt loading. wish i wasn't a teacher so i could start doing this during the day and not just at night.

6 eggs - 24g fat, 36g protein

Lunch
1/4 cup almonds - 15g fat
a bit of deli ham - a bit of fat and protein
protein shake - 100g protein

dinner
meat - 100g protein
vegetables - trace carbs
salad - trace carbs

post-workout
maybe some more protein

Continuing with water loading and uva ursi. Weight is way up at night, but drops really fast the next day. 2 gal of water again today. last medium carb day before comp.

Medium Carb Day (255c, 210p, 25f)

breakfast
3 cup cheerios - 60g carb
2 cup milk - 25g carb
toast - 35g carb

snack
cliff bar - 43g carb

lunch (had to travel unexpectedly)
a bit of pasta
fresh fruit
a tiny bit of chicken - 20g pro

dinner
piece of chicken and piece of steak - 75g pro
large plate of pasta (no sauce) and veggies
big salad

this dinner was so big i didn't even want any protein later on. I also drank my 2gal of water today. It's rough travelling with colleagues and having to go to the restroom every 20 minutes.

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010 (3 days out of weigh-in)

weighed in at 207.5 this morning. this is probably close to my walking weight but if today was cut day, i'd make the weight easily. today is another big water day, then tomorrow is normal (1gal) and friday is very little. low carb from here until cut.

low carb (85c, 255p, 60f)

protein shake - 100g protein (drank slowly throughout morning)

lunch
chicken and steak - 75g protein
salad - trace carbs
1.5 tbsp of olive oil - 20g fat

taco salad - 50g protein

1/4 cup almonds - 15g fat

45/85 carbs
225/255 protein
50/60 fat

definitely didn't eat enough today.

ih ad no food prepped for today. so it's gonna be a rough day. positive news is that i woke up at 206 this morning. i think that since ill only take in 1gal of water today, and minimal water friday, I should get down to 204-205 before i even have to sweat.
