2 Tarantulas escape luggage, roam the cabin of airplane, terrifying passengers

A flight from Punta Cana to Montreal had 2 tarantulas roaming the cabin.

It's speculated that a passenger possibly was stowing them in their carry-on to sell them in Canada. Apparently there's a good market for this.

An hour into the 4-hour flight, a woman felt something brushing against her leg. She thought it was a brush or wire and wiped it away. Only to feel it again a few moments later. Then she looks down and sees a tarantula climbing up her leg. Of course, pandemonium ensues, screaming, the whole flight panicking.

Catherine Moreau was watching a movie on her iPad on a flight to Montreal when she felt what she thought was a wire brushing against her.

"I brushed [it] away and it started tickling me again. That's when I noticed the tarantula," Moreau told CBC News.

"I hit it to get it off me before it bit."

The tarantula that climbed her leg was one of two on a Montreal-bound Air Transat flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on April 18, the airline and the union representing its flight attendants have confirmed.

Passengers screamed and stood on their seats after learning they shared the cabin with the eight-legged critters.

I am actually pretty fascinated by tarantulas. Especially considering they're usually not aggressive, and not their venom is also not especially harmful to humans, this no doubt SEEMED to be a much bigger deal than it actually was.
