Ok i can't be the only one with mixed feelings on this. This is good because it will obviously make some LW's cut less weight and some small WW's to be in their actual weightclass like Cerrone and Gunnar. BUT there's a problem with this. It's right in the middle of LW and WW aka two of the most stacked weightclasses right now. The fighters will move to this weightclass and LW and WW won't be nearly as stacked anymore and it will make it less interesting.

What you guys think? Do you think they should add it or not?

You mean superlightweight? Wtf are you even talking about?

Only makes sense if they change WW to 175.

If they add a 235 division then it all makes sense.

175
185
205

235+

I think they should scrap all this in between divisions and flooding mma with fucked up infinite number of divisions. They shud stick to 150, 200, 250 divisions and let everyone eat horse meat lol

GOAT smashes and ends the GOAT discussion by taking four belts.

Perhaps but for the sake of the champions I figured they might want to leave as many classes alone as possible, and for the sake of cohesiveness they may just end all the classes at with a 5.

Hence 205.

215+ feels too close to 205 for me but that's just a gut shot, not really based on anything.

If they make a 165 div Khabib is going in for that 2nd UFC belt.

All it means is that just about everyone at 170 will try to cut 5 more pounds.

Adding weight classes actually increases weight cutting.

Lets say there becomes a 175. Everyone who cuts to 185 as their max cut will continue to do so. Everyone who fights at 185 but could cut a little more will now try to make 175.

I hate it and it's bad for the sport.

Thins out 3 divisions and gives all these fighters another easy hop scotch jump to an auto shot for a meaningless 2nd weight class title that they didn't earn.

If fighters are killing themselves so much to make 155lbs then they can go up to 170lbs like they always have. RDA and Cerrone did it just fine.

Fighters only want it so they can have an easier path to a title.

We've been talking about this forever. I propose we give it a break until it becomes reality.

yes but better is the specific urine gravity test

all would be fixed. It tests for hydration.

Hate it.
It just gives one more division for fighters to hop over to after a title derailment.
There is too much of that going on.

Will welterweight be changed to 175 then?

Why are people talking about this? Can't see UFC opening up a 165 weight class. If there were to be another weight class added, it'd be in the range of the heavier weight classes and there d have to be enough talent between 2 divisions (like cruiser-195.....and I don't see that happening)

Allows Platinum to bless Conor with his greatness.
