12 Untrained Strongmen vs a Silverback Gorilla. Which side wins?

Honestly I am not positive 12 untrained strongmen could defeat one regular guy. Lactic acidosis and vanity alone defeat them.

Because you don't step into the octagon to run, Kalib.

Vanity? Most of strongmen aren't that vane.

Meh. I don't think a gorilla is impervious to damage, just because it has a higher pain threshold or knows not to show it. Not saying a human being could break gorilla bones or anything, but it can punch or kick hard enough to cause internal bleeding. Enough damage like that and the gorilla will eventually be seriously hurt and immobilized. Not to mention it might work itself to the point of complete exhaustion or beyond, which I'm kind of banking on in this scenario. We are talking 12 individuals fighting the gorilla, and I don't think the gorilla will exactly go about demolishing them one by one in a calm, energy-efficient and systematic fashion. I don't think team strongman will get many good shots in while the gorilla is a whirling tornado of furry destruction. But it is another matter when it is a gassed out fleabag lying spent on the ground. So what I really want to know is how good a male gorilla's cardio is.

Lol what don't you understand! A gorilla has to take the shots of another gorilla, a humans strikes are going to do nothing to it.

Think of the strength needed to swing through the trees, holding your 400 pounds of mass with one hand, and suddenly a bunch of humans are going to gas it out? It has to wrestle with another gorrilla for Christ sakes.

A gorilla won't beat a human in a marathon but good luck gassing it in hand to hand.
If all it took to over come an alpha male gorrilla was 12 unarmed male humans then why would we even need to invent weaponry? A troop of chimps don't even tangle with alpha male silverbacks in the wild.

This isn't even worthy of discussion. Maybe 5 strong men, but 12 is just too many. They would just pile on top of the gorilla.

Sure, some would get hurt real bad in the process, but there is no way on earth a gorrilla will be able to get out of a 12 man dog pile, then throw in the fact these are large strong men.

IIRC, these animals are 4 times as strong as humans and their bones 7 times as strong.

I think they say an average adult male could bench press somewhere in the 400 range. Doesn't sound like a lot, but considering they have never worked out, etc...

If they worked out, I'm sure their max BP would be somewhere in the thousand something.

12 men, in an enclosure? 99 times out of 99, the men win.

A gorilla has a ridiculous reach and if a strongman, who are typically pretty slow, wants to get near him to strike the gorilla will definitely get a hold, and good luck getting loose. It doesn't even have to snap your arm or exert much energy, it only has to bite in dem big ol' arms. Try doing anything significant with your arm when it has big ass puncture wounds going through your muscles. And it could even easily rip out your whole muscle when he has his teeth sunk in, which I could see an enraged gorilla do.

Internal bleeding? when do we ever see that even in MMA, where highly trained, yet frail humans pound on each other for 25 minutes?

A gorillas body is an order of magnitude more resistant to damage, and these are untrained strongmen. They wouldnt be able to do any damage.

You might have a point about sheer exhaustion though. If one of the strongmen had long enough arms, and the gorilla was completely shot after rampaging through the first 11 guys, he might just be able to squeeze the life out of him. Almost certainly not, I'd say, but that's the only chance I can see as a possibility.

There are 12 men, 24 arms, fighting one gorilla. Do the math. The gorilla won't be holding on to anyone for very long when there's always 11 others attacking it.

A bruise is internal bleeding. You've never seen bruises in MMA?

A gorilla is far, far stronger than 4X the strength of an average man. I've heard that figure bandied about for 90 lb chimpanzees. If I recall it is a reasonable but perhaps somewhat inflated estimate. I seem to remember deciding after reading a bit about it that a chimp is easily as strong as 3 average men, and quite possibly more than that.
It's pretty difficult to convince a chimp to engage in a bonafide, scientific measurement of its strength that can be easily compared to humans.

Even if the 12 dudes snuck up on the gorilla while it was sleeping on the ground and dog piled it, the thing would flick them off its back like dandruff flakes. And even if they could somehow hold it down, then what? the thing would just writhe and bite its way out from underneath.

It doesn't have to. Like I said, it can debilitate it in a few seconds. It can pick them off one by one and the strongmen would start pissing their pants after 2-3 of them bite the dust. If they didn't piss their pants already, that is.

So that's the strategy? bruise the giant ape to death?

Hard to move when your body is one big bruise. Combine bloodloss with lactic acid and... yes.

You're right. I was thinking bodybuilders.

bro, welcome to my gimmick. Stay a while, we could use a poster of your esteem to help stem the tide of male psychological image disorders.

What stats? There is a one hundred percent correlation between body building and disability. If you're a devout body builder, you are by definition mentally disabled.

A gorilla can casually rip a decent sized tree out of the ground. Anyone who thinks even a bunch of fighters could beat a silverback need serious mental help.

.
the gorilla would tear through the flesh of any man piled on him.

He chomps through the first few strongmen's heads and the rest will be too horrified to continue. He wouldnt even need to resort to that legendary ground and pound or the patented "rip arms off with bare hands" finishing move.

real talk-if you punch a gorilla in the face, you will break your fist. And maybe mildly annoy him.

My generic foreign accent shall lend much credence to this cause of ours.

Are we talking about game strongmen? Is that Jim Wendler? He's pretty game. Plus gorillas are vegan.

I think 12 Navy SEALS would have a better chance. Their mentality is just different.

nah SEALS are overrated. now if were talking 12 Sherdoggers:eek: that damn thing wouldn't stand a snow ball's chance in hell.
