I'm so confused about the little Diaz

I admit to criticising the Diaz bros a lot for their attitude like "they didn't stand and bang and held me down wahhh"

That said I always knew they had good boxing, stamina etc and never understood their dislike of kicks or why they didn't use their bjj more and do more takedowns, it's like they could be amazing but are happy to sorta be silver medalist.

So my question is how come 11 day Diaz was such a beast?

The underdog effect? Nothing to lose? Has he evolved?

Is this the new "focused Diaz era"?

Why has Nate only fought once a year for ages

So many questions!

P.s I never have been a Conor fan

He's just a better, way more well-rounded fighter than the guy he crushed last night. He didn't need a full training camp for that fight.

He wasn't that far out from the Johnson fight so he might not have gotten that out of shape.

I'm more impressed with his victory over Johnson than Conor. You guys just buy into hype too much.

He really didn't look like a beast, Nate against Johnson was a beast.

Put it in lamen's terms. Conor looked unstoppable at FW where he had a huge size advantage. He went to fight a LW (Nate is a LW) and he was shocked that someone didn't get KO'd as soon as he touched them, had difficulty adjusting, etc.

Very easily the Diaz brothers are always in shape. Just because some fighters balloon up between fights doesn't mean every fighter and camp does too. On top of that the Diaz brothers also train for triathlons and Nate was currently doing that too. Lastly he stated even when not preparing for a fight he still trains a minimun of two hours a day.

Because people who want to stand and trade with Diaz, end up breaking. That's why the only way to beat him is by not standing and trading with them. If GSP stood with Nick, he would've been done. When Cowboy stood with Nate, he was done. That's why RDA did what he did to win, was hold him down for 5 rounds.

Once Nate woke up he proved his boxing is better...and the ground game, well you saw the outcome.

They're pretty active guys, him and Nick are always going for bike rides and swims and shit like so. And he did fight rather recently so he wasnt too far removed from sparring in camp and everything, but I think thats what helped him , no pressure, he was in enough shape to feel confident in his cardio and boxing, and that money staring him in the face probably made it easy motivation

He wasn't that far out from the Johnson fight so he might not have gotten that out of shape.
Yep. When you go from fight training to triathlon training, but continue to keep up with your fighting, your cardio might be ok.

A lot of people made conor their GOD. Even Conor called hinself a God..

The Gods were not too pleased it appears.

You sound like Joe Rogan asking why Rampage doesn't kick. It's not conducive to implementing his style effectively.

As an mma fan since 2005 and Irish, all I know is my butt has never been this hurt. Haven't been able to sit down all day

You just hit the nail on the head...He is far from well rounded. He is a great talker and very good on his feet against "midgets" as he says, but the run is over for him. I still tihnk he beats everyone in 145 division except for Edgar. Frankie takes him to the ground in the first minute of the fight and it doesn't even make it to rnd 2. Then he can go up to 155 and beat most guys but I'm not so sure he beats RDA now either...Dana may be on suicide watch, Ronda loses, PVZ loses, Sage loses, McGoat loses. Only thing keeping him smiling is that Ronda beats Tate 19 out of 20 times so he sees the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow....

diaz was pretty mediocre compared to his johnson fight and still beat connor

Because people built an aura of invincibility around a very beatable guy.

People are talking about this, as if, instead of Conor it was RDA or Khabib, and Diaz would have won the same way. He would not. He also would have done poorly against top-5 170ers.

He beat Conor: that's it.

Otherwise, he'll now slack off, train for triathlons, do 11-day preparations and win everything. Will he do that?

What you seen is what a few posters have been trying to say to everyone else. Conor is a product of self marketing and hype. He is good but not on the same level as the Anderson's and G.S.P.'s of the world like many were making him out to be. If he continues to try his luck at higher weight classes he will have a string of losses. Him being champion at 145lb is soon coming to an end also. If I was him I would be trying to get the Aldo rematch above fighting Edgar. He has a chance vs Aldo but Edgar is almost gntd to take the 145lb belt from him. He might get a Nate Diaz rematch after defending his belt. So that will pro-long him being the 145lbs champion.

But he would be a guy who wouldn't fear a takedown cos of his bjj off his back
The kicks could mask more punches
