One of the most feel good moments in MMA at the time. :)

There used to be a Rocky version of this on YouTube in which it had all the pre-fight smack talk that Schaub did followed by the knockout with the Rocky music in the background. I can't seem to find it now.

Yes, there's also a Guile theme (from Street Fighter) version, and that was the one I remember way back. Apparently that video has been blocked by YT now due to copyright.

Schaub fell in love with his hands that time and thought he was the best striker in the division, saying he has no problems facing the winner of Cain/JDS. BJJ expert Big Nog on the other hand never got fazed even after more than a year of layoff and decided to use his hands, rather than taking it to the ground, in this fight and we saw what happened. Legendary stuff.

Brendan definitely bought his own kool aid. People always underestimated Nog's boxing, even when he could barely move.

I'd say partly because during his prime years he really had very few matches were he could show it off, he was fighting great strikers like Crocop, Semmy, Fedor, Sergei, etc and/or very tough guys like Barnett, Herring, Coleman etc who needed very serious power to hurt, Schuab was neither of those.

Agree, and Big Nog actually had good (head) movement in this bout which the commentators pointed out.

And it's the UFC's return to Brazil in years. Big Nog just ain't gonna lose that night in Rio
 
Watching Brenden Shlob get knocked out feels so good.....
 
I loved that ko lol
Brandon has grown on me but I strongly disliked him back then
 
It sucks he doesn’t get knocked out on video more often
