The word "gunman" was deemed acceptable when the gender of the perpetrator was unknown. This is because using made up language detracts from the story:

"Words that sound awkward or contrived or are inconsistent with the language used by Canadians draw attention away from the story they are conveying. (‘Fisher' rather ‘fisherman' is an example.) For that reason we try to avoid them.”"

The CBC also notes the irony that the person reviewing it is literally called an OmbudsMAN, which does not actually connote gender.

From the recent Minnesota shooting thread. This concerns American shootings, not Canadian shootings, but since there are so few Canadian shootings, I suspect this skews them just as heavily over the last 7 years:

Due to the high threshold for a definition, the earliest shooting committed by a trans highlighted by Benny Johnson was Anderson Aldrich. Since that time, there have been 14 mass shootings according to their definition in the USA. Two of those were committed by trans. That is 14.3% of mass shootings. According to USA Facts, 2.3m adult Americans identify as transgender, or 0.95%.

Thus, according to the Violence Project Database, transgenders have been committing mass shootings at a rate 15.0x greater than the norm since November 2022.

So in the context of the study I just discussed above, I thought it would be interesting to revisit the earlier tweet I linked that highlighted 7 trans/non-binary mass shooters.


First, let's visit the Violence Project page and see how they define mass shootings, specifically.

The earliest of the shootings he highlighted was the Aberdeen shooting. That took place in September 2018. Here is the Wiki:

The shooter killed 3 people and shot 3 more. Then committed suicide. So this one doesn't count. There aren't 4 killed victims (other than the perpetrator) by gunshot. Apparently they need to inform Wikipedia it wasn't a "mass shooting" event, and that the website should desist from describing it as such.

In fact, looking at only the dead or injured victims, here were the counts, and whether or not these qualify as "mass shootings" according to that database used for that study.

There’s a pattern in here that no one in the media will report on.

The mass shooting spree by Jesse Van Rootselaar, an 18-year-old man, in Tumbler Ridge in Canada, had a pattern. He murdered his mother, who had been supportive of his delusions that he was really a woman, and his 11-year-old stepbrother.

Then he went to a school and killed a 39-year-old ‘female educator’, three 12-year-old girls, two boys and another 12-year-old girl is reportedly fighting for her life.

There’s a pattern here.

Jesse, who had been convinced that he was a woman, but knew inside that it was all a lie, put on a dress and went off to target women and girls. Most of his victims were female, which was something that he could never be, and that’s probably not a coincidence.

The educational and medical establishments had lied to him and told him he could be a woman. His own mother enabled the lies. But in the end the lies fell apart and Jesse joined the ranks of ‘transgender’ mass shooters lashing out at women and girls.

And once again, women and girls paid the price for the manufactured transgender social epidemic.
