#1 Contender vs Champion

Whether Ngannou was all hype, Volkan was given a title shot too fast, etc...I was just happy we actually got to see a co-main event and a main event where the #1 contender fought the champion for the title. No money fight, no legacy fight, no revenge fight, no what the fans what to see fight.. Just the champion fighting the #1 contender to see if he/she is the best the division has to offer. For mma fans, I would think there is something satisfying about the rankings being used to determine bouts...like it used to be for the most part. I know there will always be nonsensical money fights, especially in this current WME era, but last night...it was satisfying to watch two champions fight the next in line and prove why they are championship material.
