good post again, just a few points whilst i try eat my lunch
But I don't think that these people were raised with conservative parents and teachers. They were most likely, for the majority, raised with people trying to instill leftist or left-leaning ideology.
Not sure. In the US context, the Evangelical Church has been growing and I don't think the Midwest or South has gotten much more liberal. since the Reagan era
I'm more left than my parents. If I had to guess you are too. I can't speak for you but for me, a big part of that wa because I was able to as a younger person see the flaws in the more extreme nodes of their thinking
nice guess, and agreed.
Kids are smart. They have acuity we forgot we had, and they're wired to test things and see the bullshit.
Not sure. I have a feeling social media has changed the reception and processing of information, and critical thinking, in ways we don't understand yet*******
the healthiest society would have the best of both liberalism and conservatism. To some it might seem that's an oxymoron
not at all to me, I am far more foreign-policy hawkish than my more 'left' friends and far more pro-Police and law&order.
What worries me the most is that these "young" people aren't even that young. They're late 20's and early 30's, and the generation behind them (I don't even know what that one is called) worries me even more. They'll be running the place when I'm old. I'm right of center and I think I'll still get crucified.
agree 100%
***** EG myself, near 50. I have been consuming One FC, 3 round, small gloves Muay Thai, every week for nearly 3 years, having been a big, near-obsessive boxing fan i seldom watch boxing now. But when I *do* watch boxing- it has to be a superb skill, or action, to hold my attention. All of a sudden that 36+12 minutes can seem a looooooong time if the fight isn't absolutely top level. Fights i would have been perfectly captivated by before, I struggle with now. I suspect this is representative of what happens to young people consuming near-everything in 15-30 second bursts.
