now, I certainly haven't spent as much time consuming Charlie's gospel as some have, but I don't really recall him referring to the bible very often at all. H ave I missed something?

I mean, he said an awful lot about Christianity as a cultural constellation, of the US as the 'inheritor of the judeo-Christian tradition*, you know, the stuff that means actual Christianity as a religion crosses the line into white nationalist ideology under the guise of religion, but, 'loving Jesus'? I didn't see much of that. Sounds a bit woke. Like I say, i may have missed it

* I love how they try and make judaism and christianity part of a continuum, as though there aren't still people alive whose grandparents in Russia and Ukraine were on the receiving end of pogroms killing thousands, egged on entirely by the established Christian churches of those countries not that much more than a century ago. Or that EG the middle ages weren't littered with church-sanctioned genocides of Jews. As though there aren't millions in America who still hate Jews on the basis they killed Christ.

Well, maybe not specifically "I love Jesus" type of stuff but he did go a bit beyond Christianity as a component of Western culture. I've also not consumed a ton of his stuff but I've seen a good amount of clips where he goes into the Bible and scripture and stuff like that. Those things are like cat nip for even moderate Christians.

The "Judeo-Christian" thing is fascinating and yes, a product of very recent history. I think I remember reading that it was first brought up in the late 1800s but then it came really into vogue post -WWII to legitimize the state of Israel.

I went back and read the texts. I think they were disgusting. He should drop out. If he refuses to then the people should not vote for him. I doubt that will stop people from voting for him though. People always seem to find excuses to vote for abhorrent people.

This is how dumb the state of politics are, and the GOP is in general.
