I can't answer for Billy Madison, but Mortal Kombat is legitimately well made. It's easily one of the best video game adaptations of all time.
Its not hard to be one of the best video game adaptations not much compition. I do like and enjoy it just what its up against here choosing it seems odd

The action nowhere near realistic in braveheart, lots of gore yeah but nothing like real battles, and why would you expect any realism from men in tights?

Hence the "" around the word realistic. In terms of Hollywood action it is. And I wouldn't, its just one of the only "period" films released between 92-95. Anyway, Hollywood action tropes transcend their genres.

Well I'd agree that it's not better than some of the others in the poll. Sometimes nostalgia is strong.

I can't believe Braveheart is leading. It would have been a much better film if they'd cut an hour off it, it was WAY too long.
Heat, Casino and 12 Monkeys were my favourites in that order. I quite liked The Usual Suspects (but I guessed the twist) and Friday too and Se7en....
1995 seems like a very good year for movies, I've seen all the voting ones and the honourable mentions and there aren't any that I dislike but Hackers is dumb.

but its not realistic in the slightest and its not more realistic fighting from films before it. Conan the barbarian, willow as you said last of the mohicans. I agree with your point of it populizing huge battle scenes

Oh shit I didn't realize Hackers was in the poll. Wasted my vote

Not realistic? What mainstream Hollywood film shows throatcutting in such a way? No pg 13 quick cut, no kill bill esque blood fountain but just a frank portrayal of someone getting their throat slit.

That is as "gritty and real" as Hollywood gets. We all know from any unarmed fight scene how different actual combat is to reality, just in terms of the standards of the Hollywood film medium.

I said the action wasn't real thats it ,executing someone isn't action to me anyway. I agreed with you on the gore and the scale I just don't think the action is realistic or even "realistic"

As someone who has cut the main artery in my foot I assure you that you can get a reasonable blood fountain from the human body

the Action and gore isn't all that different from conan except for scale

I'm a bit surprised Bad Boys isn't getting any votes. I figured it would be a film that would have at least a few big fans among the Sherdog crowd.

I'm also surprised there's not some dude out there who thinks Mr. Holland's Opus was the best film of the year.

For me there's at least 10 I can count that are good/great movies.

Top ones narrowed down to Casino and Heat.
